Finally got most of my wiring done and a new battery in my T3. I replaced the indicator lights w/ LED's and everything works - except the indicator for Neutral. I checked the wiring diagram and pulled the wire off the Neutral Safety Switch. Grounding the wire gets me a bright LED so the wiring is intact. I pulled the two bolts and cannot get the switch out of the crankcase. If I tap on the base (oblong plastic), it turns.
At dinner tonight it occurred to me that I should next check continuity to ground while shifting in and out of gear.
Is the switch simply a tight fit in the crankcase or is there something else I need to do to remove it should it prove to be bad?

I did some searching, and someone posted that the neutral light is only a reminder that you are in the real neutral - not one of the others between gears. So i went and checked - yup. i was between 2 and 3. Downshifted and got into the real neutral and my multi meter squealed indicating continuity to ground. Hooked the wire back up and the dash light illuminates.
Problem solved.

I find it helps to loosen the nuts on the stud of the switch. Sometimes they've been over-tightened and the plastic is deformed.

What Charlie said, it pooches out sometimes. It should just pull out, then can adjust it by bending the tang slightly so it doesn’t lie so much

Moto Guzzi, successfully making sparkies of mechanics since 1921. That's over 100 years!!!! I didn't realize till just now that electrickery had been around that long!

So I'm sitting at a Stop sign with my V11, clutch in, waiting for traffic to clear. Right hand on brake. Looks like a long line so I kick it into neutral (Green Light ON) and dump the clutch. Front wheel on sandy blacktop allows the locked wheel to slide forward about a foot. Suddenly my feet are now a foot behind a good support point and the bike lays itself down on its port side for a nap.
Just because you see the GREEN doesn't always guarantee you are in neutral.
Caught myself on palms before impacting pavement. Tore through one layer of glove palm. Made me realize gloves are important at any (or no) speed. All that was hurt was my pride.
Glad Guzzi doesn't make landing gear indicator lights.
