Title: I mocked up the Moto Guzzi leather saddlebags on the V7III
Post by: twowheeladdict on April 18, 2022, 07:55:22 PM
Mounting them with the V7II mounting brackets is going to be a larger undertaking than I have time for.
The bags are way too low in the OEM position for the V7III upswept pipes.

I raised the rear of the bags a little more than an inch and they look like the exhaust heat would be fine when moving, and I really don't want to put the OEM exhaust back on. I think keeping the bottom of the bags with the flow of pipe but raising both front and rear some more would be helpful

I think they do look pretty good with the bike.

Unfortunately, until I am retired I fall into the "more money than time" category, so I may just break down and order the C-bow system.

I do have to confirm that it will work with the OEM luggage rack because I don't want to deal with either / or and I think the rack is necessary to carry the lines of the bike through the bags.

Does anyone know if the OEM small rack will work or not work with the C-Bow system?

I think they look fine.  I agree I would go for the C Bow and adapt it to the bags. The c bow doesn’t mess up the look of the bike with the bags off.

Correct me if I’m wrong— the only mounting difference between the II and the III is the rear shock mount being placed farther back on the III, right? If you have the II racks, is it easy enough to just take them to a welder and have them chop, angle, and weld the arms?

The bags and racks came off a wrecked bike.  The other side would need some bending and there is rust on the welds.  I already got the bag on the other side 90 percent repaired.

Other than fabbing up a way to mount the front, I would also have to fab from new material a way to mount the top mid point to where the OEM top rack mounts.

Plus, the whole thing is too low and will likely melt the bags if sitting at a light too long.  Paying someone else to do all that would probably cost more than just buying the C-Bow racks.

The motorcycle lift is a Harbor Freight Open Box special.  Got it many years ago.   I wouldn't put the Harley on it, but it works well for 600 lb and lighter bikes.

Ordered the C-Bow system today.  Hopefully they go on with the OEM luggage rack without issue.

Will see if it all comes in time for me to prep the bike for the ride to TWO in a month.

Let us know how they work with the MG rear rack.  I’ve considered buying them but haven’t pulled the trigger.
