Title: Mahindra tractor owners Info.
Post by: Ncdan on May 05, 2022, 01:38:39 PM
If anyone owns or knows someone who owns a Mahindra Tractor I may have some info that could save them hundreds of dollars.

I have an 2010 model 4025 which developed an issue a couple years ago.
After being ran a while it would start smoking, missing and losing power.
I changed the 50 dollar fuel filter 3 times and it came to the point the tractor was unusable. The symptoms was not consistent and the dealership could not ever figure it out. They wanted to just replace the entire fuel injector system including the pressure pump, talk about bucks!!

I started the research with google as I’d already spoken with two dealerships.
Finally wife stumbled upon a video on Utube with a bibed overhaul wearing, redneck ole southern type boy, yuck yuck, like me, explaining what happened to his Mahindra Track-tor.
Here is what the gentleman found.

There is a shut off valve in the left side of the fuel tank, at the bottom (see picture).
For some unknown and unexplained reason the engineers at Mahindra Tractor Co felt the need to place a small, little finger size, fine mesh screen, attached to the valve.
If a Diesel tractor is left unused say over the winter of for the extended periods of time a film will build up an the sides of the tank.
We use begins again and fuel is added this film which had jelled or hardened will break loose and guess what? Right it stops up the mesh screen which is not needed anyhow because the 50 dollar filter catches all of the unwanted contaminations present in the fuel and tank.

The gentleman described simply removing the line and running a wire up into the tank and pushing  the scree off.

After watching the video I took a windshield wiper flat small bar, removed the line and shoved the Barr up in the tank.
Immediately a wad of congealed gook and trash came out and the fuel immediately flowed out freely.

I replaced the valve and line and bush Hogged for 3 hours and it

never missed a lick. Problem solved.

I have read where people have spent hundreds of bucks chasing this minor issue so I figured I’d throw it out here in hopes it may save a fellow member the headaches I went through for two years for a really simple problem.
I really don’t think the dealers intentionally failed to accurately identify the issue. Like my local dealer said, they only have young inexperienced mechanics now and all the ole seasoned masters have aged out. Sounds familiar doesn’t it🤔
