Title: The Little Boy In The Sidecar
Post by: Dave Swanson on June 04, 2022, 01:36:10 PM
This wonderful picture was taken in 1937 in front of the Rockford, IL Harley Davidson dealership.   73 years later I purchased my  36 VD sidecar rig from Bud, who is the 6 year old lad wearing a dark sweatshirt sitting in the tandem sidecar with his younger brother.  Bud passed on in 2017.   It was a privilege to know Bud, and become the caretaker of his beloved flathead and sidecar.

As you can tell he still bore an uncanny resemblance to his  younger self when he was 80 years old.  The 3rd picture was taken the day I bought the rig in 2010.  The last picture was taken recently.

I worked on BMW's for those guys, when they separated the store. Mostly airheads, Rambo did the rest.
They are same family as dealership #1 in Milwaukee.

Nice history & pictures.

Thanks for the story and pics. Boy howdy, I haven't seen anyone wearing a kidney belt in years.

Perfect summary!  Great living history, nice to see it being so well taken care of, hopefully the next generation keeps it going just as nicely!

Great rig and a great history. It would be wonderful to know where that rig took its owners.
