First off - guilty as charged for combining two topics into one but I figured the mental gymnastics would appeal to this fine crowd of thinkers...
My Cal 3 has the beautiful cast wheels. After sitting out the winter season, I found the front tire was nearly flat.
Knowing there had to be a leak, I filled it again and found it was leaking about 2-4 pounds a day.
Off comes the front wheel. Found a leak at the rim (not the tire valve) so off came the tire. I thoroughly cleaned the rim with a wire brush and re-installed the tire; in so doing, I found that someone had previously chewed up the bead pretty well, so I ordered up a new Shinko 110-90 18, my new favorite front Cali tire.
Installed the new tire, bead popped right in place and now - with the new tire - I'm 'only" losing .75 PSI a day. Losing ANY air is not acceptable to me.
There were no bubbles around the valve stem so I didn't change it. Yes, I know I should have but there were no leaks.
So - I'm thinking the wheel itself might be causing the slow leak.
Now - it just so happens that I have a beautiful set of later model Cali spoke wheels with the outside flange for running tubeless tires.
BUT - it appears that this wheel would use different axle spacers instead of the one spacer on the right side used by the Cal3.
Can anyone describe or show a photo of the proper axle spacers for the later wheels?
Also - comments on Slime or tube to fix the old rim, but frankly I'm not a fan of either "solution".
Thanks fellow Guzzisti!

I’m interested in what your doing here. The wheel could be porous. Only real test is the dunk test. Maybe a tire shop would let you use theirs if you don’t have a tank of water. As far as EV wheels on cali3 I’d like to know more myself

Thanks Gusable, hopefully someone will surface with some data on running the later spoke wheels. I have also noted the the stainless disks are much slimmer that the older cast disks so it may also require different calipers…

They make caliper adapters for putting newer side by side piston ones on older forks. GT site may have them.

I did find these caliper adapters…

Still hoping for info on the axle spacers too.

Does anyone have info regarding spray-on porous aluminum casting sealant? My worry is that if it should be applied, that the tire mounting proceedure becomes a real PITA due to rubber on rubber stiction.

If wheel is porous get some Loctite 290
Its a wicking grade, and designed to lock made threaded joints or seal porous castings/welds
Finding the porosity might be your first challenge 🤔
