Title: Leaky Nipple
Post by: slowmover on June 12, 2022, 10:08:20 PM
Replaced brake fluid in the 2013 V7 and now the rear bleeder is lightly weeping fluid.I don’t have a reliable torque wrench I just tightened her until it stopped, nothing excessive. The front is ok but the rear is a little wet after a ride. Not many options so I might try replacing the bleeder. I don’t think any more tightening is safe.

There will probably be some sediment in the bottom of the hole preventing the tapered end of the male part seating.
Or.
Contamination on the tip of aforesaid male part, again stopping it from seating.
I’d think that a VERY gentle application of very fine wet/dry on the end of a suitable piece of wooden dowell, properly tapered in a lathe, to clean the seat.
Also some attention to the end of the threaded male fitting.

It's probably residual oil inside the bleed nipple. When I finish bleeding brakes I always roll up a corner of a piece of absorbent paper and insert it into the bleeder hole to remove any oil trapped in there. If the rear nipple is inverted it will seep out. The fronts are the other way up but I do it anyway.

Ciao

This ^^^ but I give the bleed nipples a quick squirt of brake cleaner to flush out the bleed nipple before reinstalling the protective rubber cap."
