Title: 2013 V7 clutch adjustment
Post by: Nitro69 on June 29, 2022, 09:58:07 PM
Does anyone have a link to a thread on how to properly adjust the clutch of a 2013 V7 Racer....... My wife's bike has 6.5k miles on it.. We just bought it for her.... the clutch seems very finicky..... Half a turn one way and she drags at traffic light. Half a turn the other way and she slips.  Is this normal?

I think it is finiky until you find the sweet spot, then you'll set and forget for a long while.

I feel like I remember the OEM spec being too big, at maybe something like 3mm play... But that wouldn't let it release fully when you held the lever against the grip. As such just a hair less was the right balance that let it release fully but also wouldn't slip.

Honestly I've left mine alone now for 15k or so...

I don't remember the earlier ones being fussy. The 2017 has to have 2MM or it drags. I use a drill bit to set it. If yours slips with only one turn adjustment I think you have a problem.

Just another thought , my V7II was a bit fussy trying to find neutral no matter the clutch adjustment . At around 12k Mi. It was remarkedly better @ 20k + it’s almost Asian in its function !

The definitive instructions were set out by Pete Roper in "V7 Clutch Adjustment" on this board, on or before 23 April 2015 (the date I transcibed it into a text file).
