Your looking in the wrong hole for the clutch. The rubber cover in the bell housing is where you can see the clutch.

Just saw that, thanks Tom?
Any idea on the valve pics?

Difficult to tell. Doesn't look the same as the single plate that came on my EV. That you appear to have bolts showing on both sides may indicate dual plate but I don't remember from when I converted my bike 11 years ago. If I can dig up those pictures I'll post them here.

Nice focused pic, but I don't think it will be useful in identifying one vs two plates. Probably best if you tell us what model and year. Any history of repair to the clutch/transmission? Why do you need to know?

Someone knowledgeable about your particular bike should eventually come along and answer your question.

The pic you show looks the same as my 98 EV, which has a dual plate clutch.
Rick.

I had a 2004 EV hydro motor with a clutch lever that felt firm and positive, like any Japanese bike I've owned. I have also had 2 - 2001 Jackals and now an '02 California Stone with clutch levers that feel "soft"-- almost like the cable is stretching or coming unraveled when the clutch is being disengaged-- but the cables are not stretching, and the engagement point does not change.
Is it possible I am feeling the difference between a single and dual plate clutch?
