Title: Owning a Guzzi takes commitment & dedication
Post by: willowstreetguzziguy on July 18, 2022, 04:10:29 PM
Every so often someone will come up to me when I’m getting on or off my Guzzi and ask me about it. The other week a long term rider started asking me if if  a Guzzi might be for him. He mentioned he had riridden a long time and used to own a Honda 6 cylinder CBX and was looking for a cycle to take with him on the back of his motor home.

He knew of Guzzis and I spoke with glowing terms on my 2008 1200 Sport and mentioned how nice the V7 range of Guzzis were but cautioned him about the sparse dealer network (closest here is an hour away in West Chester, PA).  But I did tell him that I did most of my own maintenance like valve adjustment, oil changes etc. Overall, I always knew you had to have dedication and commitment to own and ride a Guzzi. It might be an easier sale in the Guzzi showroom than it is out in the public. No doubt about it that most of those who come up and start a conversation have some cycle knowledge and are curious. It always makes for a good conversation, but maybe not a convert.

I tend to tell people that they are tried and true drive trains that are built in low numbers. Easy to service as you mentioned. On the flip side you will have to service it.
You have to really want to own a Guzzi.

You have to really want to own a Guzzi.

ABSOLUTELY THE TRUTH! If not, it won’t get ridden and will get sold in short time.

You actually enjoy the journey of improving it and there’s usually plenty of scope to do so.

I own both a Guzzi and a Triumph. When I am riding the Guzzi I often have someone ask me about it. When I am riding the Triumph I have to listen to all about the one they used to own.
