On August 14th it will be 51 years since I purchased my "71 Ambassador from Storms Cycle in Grand Prairie,Tx. It was sold last year with over 200K on it. I don't remember all the other Guzzis I've had in the last 1/2 century and I stopped counting when I reached a million miles. I couldn't begin to count the amount of wonderful people I've met in all these years from looking in the mirror and seeing a turnip farmer with an 8th grade education in a one room country school to the late Dan Standlee who wrote some of the guided missile programs.
My only regret is I didn't have a US map and mark the states riders were from that visited me. From Alaska to Maine, Canada, Florida to Cal and most of the midwestern states. I've had the house filled up and more camping in the yard. I was talking to Bill Hagan the other day and he said he thought that was a good idea and he is going to do it because he has a lot of visitors. Fellow Guzzi rider, Patrick Hayes, will need a globe as he has so many from around the world visit him.
Man, it has been one wonderful ride. When I walk out of the Dallas VA Hospital, you know who is the richest man in the world? ME.

Jeez that’s nice…
Whatever’s up, good luck and I applaud your spit in the eye attitude. I have never met you, but you remind me of The Duke in True Grit… :thumb:

Cripes, I’m not a big tourer type but you are legendary in the Guzzi world!

Thanks for the shout out Tex. This pandemic thing really crimped our style. Either guests couldn't enter this country or they couldn't get back home once here. We were concerned more about secondary infections of Regina's elderly mother or our too young and unvaccinated granddaughter. So visitation by travelers has been on hold. Restrictions seem to be easing so last month we hosted a young chap from Andorra and tomorrow my two Tasmanian chums arrive. I've been storing their bikes for three years because Australian travel rules were so strict. They'll be on a 90 day western states tour. If you hear of moto travelers, send them our way.

Pretty good prose for a Texas turnip farmer. Glad i was able to meet you at one of the Lindale rallies, and i wish i had met you when you lived in Bedford.
-
I've met you a couple of times at different rallys but one ride stands out. It was just a get together in Alabama for ribs in Tuscaloosa and I was on my 96 1100 Sport. And I thought, just who ARE these old guys on EV's out riding me on my Sport?

That’s as close as I could describe Tex, except his unmatched sense of humor is one that you would appreciate.

Ken, thanks for being one of the Guzzi ambassadors. Meeting you at the WI Rally with a mere 76k on your Cal III was proof enough for me to try a Guzzi. That was 30 years ago! Glad to have met you! Hope to see you down the road.
keep rolling!
