Meeting some guys in the Hocking Hills area for a few days, then back roads into MI to the SS Badger, and cross into WI where I am meeting with Road Glide riders for a few days, before meandering home.

The goal is zero miles on an interstate.

The hardest part is the first and last 300 miles on every trip.  That is what it takes to feel like I'm finally getting somewhere when leaving, and should be home already when coming back.

Nice looking "sled"! My son has a 17 Road Glide special, great machine, although, kinda heavy for us older folks. That bike actually gets down and "boogies" ...Very torquey, and capable in the right hands.   :thumb:

Harleys were virtually the only bikes we saw on our Idaho trip,but we did pass a Triumph Semi hauling bikes across MN towards La Crosse.Only Guzzis We Saw were at the rally.

I haven't been on a road trip yet this year but I am seeing a lot of bikes locally. On the weekends Harleys are common. Adventure bikes all week long.

I'll crash the thread a little bit.  Just got back a couple of weeks ago from riding my GS to the Pacific Northwest and back.  Good trip, although I'd wanted to ride the Going-to-the-Sun road in Glacier but it was still snowed in until just after the 4th! That’s cool mike. Solorider said he couldn’t get a pass to ride going to the sun. He is out there right now on his V85TT.

Today was rain all day long. No photos but did try a fish Rueben for dinner this evening.

I'm about an hour north of the ferry when you get to Wisconsin. If you need anything give me a shout.
You are aware you need to provide your own tie downs on the ferry?

Thanks, and yes I have my tie downs.   I am hoping they do motorcycles first on / first off like they do on other ferry crossings I have done.

More like last on first off. You get to go back down to the auto deck before the masses. So you have time to untie.

The last time I took the SS Badger across the lake (2017) I had tie downs with me but I didn’t need them as there were several hanging there. I’m heading up that way again leaving 8/10 not sure where I’m going but thinking of Chippewa Falls area , any one been in that area ? Worth the trip ?

Regarding that pass nonsense: I would get up every morning and log on at 8:00 as soon as the park web site went "live" day after day to try and get a "Pass" into the park.  Literally the day before, while I was in Cody, WY I managed to score an entry pass!
When I got to the east entrance of Glacier the next day, I was told the passes were only required for the West Entrance Gate!  :shocked: Go Figure!  When I rolled up to the east ticket gate, it wasn't even manned!  The government can screw up just about anything.

Had a blast riding the “Windy 9” and the Hocking Hills area of southeast OH.
3 of the top 100 motorcycle roads are in that area. Sections of 555 are insane!  I don’t think they used a bulldozer when creating that roller coaster road.
Since I was riding with others I didn’t take any noteworthy photos.

From Athens, OH to Ludington, MI my goal was to stay as far away from cities as possible. It was a very enjoyable ride.  Spent the night in Defiance, OH and had some great conversations with the locals while exploring the town.

The SS Badger ferry currently makes the crossing from Ludington to Manitowoc once a day at 0900.

I didn’t want to risk missing it so I got a room in Ludington so I wouldn’t have to rush. After checking into the hotel I set out to explore the area and get my first look at Lake Michigan.
