Title: Moto Guzzi Nuovo Falcone
Post by: Tiny Tim on August 10, 2022, 08:05:30 AM
I found this Nuovo in PA. It had a side car attached and was imported with the car attached. I didn't leave the car on it. It was geared lower with the rear sprocket being a 41 over the stock 35. I replaced it with a 31 for better road going. The rims were rusted, and a couple spokes broken on the rear wheel. Probably from the sidecar pull. In any event it needed a good go over. It already had been rebuilt with new valve seats valves and guides. The new Borrani rims look more correct than the steel chrome ones I think. I've been riding it three summers now here in WV. I ride it over a fairly long distance in a day and its always been reliable.

That is a beautiful bike, Tim. Congrats. I bet its a real joy to ride. There is nothing like the relaxed cadence of a thumper, on a nice backroad!   :thumb:

Thanks to everyone for the comments and kind words. I was fortunate to find it literally in a barn. It took some doing to get it road ready again, but it is a fun bike to ride.
It's not something to be in a hurry on but it's really good on the small back roads here. Something about the way it chuffs along with that big flywheel going is very satisfying!

Also its very difficult to find one with all the touring gear still on the bike. Those factory bags I haven't seen on another yet. I'm sure they must be some out there. I don't think I'll see another going down the road!

Great bike! I love the Borrani's. Where did you source them? Did you lace the wheels yourself or outsource the job?

Last year I had the privilege of sitting on one of these historic Motsinger of years gone by, when my wife and I went to Tim’s to pick up some Vetter equipment he gave me.
Thanks again Tim for letting me sit that wonderful machine and also for the Vetter equipment, that’s now taking up space in my mother-in- law’s garage instead of yours and mine :)

Thanks again for all the replies.
Yup Mr. Dan came up to WV to pick up a Vetter kit I took off my 1981 Convert. It was nice to meet him and his wife. Great folks and I have a lot of respect for Dan being a retired police officer. Thanks for your service, Dan it is very much appreciated.
The rims were done by Dubya they do great work. I have laced many rims myself during my racing years but treated myself this time to some professional work. They also bead blasted the hubs and installed wheel bearings. In comparison to the old, rusted chrome rims it's a huge improvement. I think the Borrani rims look right on the Nuovo as well.
