Title: Harper's Outsider on a G5
Post by: life member on August 15, 2022, 11:59:34 AM

Does Harper's Outsider increase oil capacity on a G5. The dip stick has 3 different marks. Is the standard 3 quarts sufficient?

My 98 V 11 EV has a Harpers outsider, and I use 3 quarts of oil at oil changes.

I have an early outsider on my Convert, which means the crankcase is the same as a G5, T3, CX100 etc.

Takes the same amount of oil as stock. You are not adding a space to increase the oil capacity, you are increasing the air space above the oil to at least prevent oil churn in the crankcase. 3 quarts is the correct amount for an oil change BUT the amount is more when you change the filter and have to refill the oil passages and the filter, (maybe 3 1/4 qt +-)

As a side note, the stock dipstick will now indicate the oil is at the wrong level. Ie. the lower mark on the originals IS NOW THE NEW FULL MARK so the problem is easily solved, I purchased the dipstick for a Cali 11 as it had a Guzzi spacer from the factory and the factory also changed the dipstick to indicate the new marks
