UNPLANNED SATURDAY DETOUR ON THE RED DEVIL GUZZI
Great to see everybody on Saturday. I was surprised at the crowd in spite of a questionable weather outlook. Having a ham&cheese omelet while overlooking the gentle rain falling on the golf greens was kinda nice until the realization that we had to eventually go home.
Thankfully, the rain stopped and revealed some sunshine by the time we wandered out to the bikes for our tire-kicking session. It didn't last forever and several texted me after leaving to say they got a drenching on their way home. Oh well. That's part of the deal. Makes one feel young again. Right?
When I left the parking lot intending to head home, I changed my mind and turned the new red Griso north and ended up doing a 450 mile excursion to central Alabama.
I wanted to run the bike through its break-in period and also recon that upcoming day trip we've been talking about since it's a new place. I had a ball and missed all the rain drama.
I love that bike. Nothing like a big block Guzzi on the road.

looks like a banner day.
Very handy they allow you to check your blood pressure after the fried chicken and mac n cheese!
-
Lovely tour...the Griso is addictive for sure...definitely in its element there!
-
So where did you end up finding a NEW Griso? I must’ve missed something.

Not totally new but darn near it. Stickers still on it. It's a long story for another day.
Interesting anecdote about this trip. EVERY one of the locals (some of whom are pictured) focused on the big muffler with the dual outputs. That was a key feature that they loved!

Hope you can get that sticker off without too much trouble or faded paint around it.
I’ve never ridden a big block Guzzi, but my V7III and V85TT are plenty exciting to me.
I did own a Concours 1400 for 30,000 miles so I know what fast acceleration feels like, and a Vulcan Meanstreak 1600 for 6 years so I know what wrist stretching torque feels like. Is the Griso a combination of the two?
-
The blacked out exhausts look quite fine as well...did you do that after purchasing or it came as is?

I have a Griso and a Concours 14. The Kawi is my long distance tripper and the Guzzi is the bar hopper. I love riding them both, but the rush and acceleration of the Japanese machines is something that never gets old. I do love riding the Griso as well. It is very hard to compare it to any other bike I've ridden or owned. Totally Unique Riding Experience.

That well-done ceramic job had been done just prior to my ownership. I wasn't totally pleased with it at first but it's growing on me.

You are the man leaf ! From the Griso to the Nuevo Falcone there is a huge leap .Yet you appreciate each for what they are and seem to enjoy them equally.

Beautiful Griso and great location / photos. :thumb:
What river was that and where did the Ferry go?
The food looks delicious, but distending! :thumb:  :boozing:

Congrats on the new bike, LM. I've ridden Darren's, same color as yours, it has a little more kick than my Greenie.
Anyway, LTNS. Good to see you back. I do miss your reports on "The Great One".
-
Beutiful pics and bike! I miss my Griso so much my eyes water when I see one! One of the things that had to go in my divorce
-
VERY excited you are back in the fold Mr.Leafman!
Your attention to detail and description of solutions you've found working around Guzzi's are invaluable. Nothing speaks like a GRiSO, sometimes in whispers, sometimes a SHOUT!
Enjoy

Glad to hear you are enjoying your Griso. I used your Stelvio "how-to" as a guide to greasing the swingarm pivots of my '13 Griso. Thanks for that and well done on your purchase.

Hi JJ, that's on the Alabama River going to Gee's Bend (home of the famous quilters, google it). It's a great river ride, maybe 20 minutes.
