Latest Guzzi Video. No Guzzis were abused during the making of this video - just used a bit as nature intended.

Here's the link to the video.

Nice vid as usual!
On the starter. If I heard it right. The starter spun but did not engage. It is most likely is the solenoid. If it's a Bosch, you can take the solenoid apart and clean the contacts inside, or just replace it. While your at it, give your battery cables a clean up.
Edit: Also check for a sticky bendix or it's actuating arm.
Thanks!

That would have been an awful long walk if the starter hadn’t come around.

Cool Video, Nick. :thumb: The handlebars on your Convert look perfect to me. Are they standard convert "police" bars, with the ends cut shorter, or something else?
thanks

Hi Rick,
They were on an Eldorado - a consumer version of the police model, I believe. They are a fraction lower and less 'wheelbarrow' than the standard Convert bars. I much prefer them as they give me a slightly forward lean and allow me to sit less on the points of my backside. Little changes make for a big difference.

Another great video Nick
I have a 76 Convert
a couple of times I have run the battery flat and needed a jump start so I made a jumper cable using heavy gauge speaker wire
I find the starter fails when the battery is below 12 Volts so I installed a Voltmeter so I can keep an eye on it, any sign of low Voltage and I keep the motor running with the headlight off while it boosts up again.
Apparently there is a way to bump start a convert but it requires you to be doing 40 MPH which could be a problem.

Hi Nick, I always enjoy your calm demeanor and nice vistas.
If you are not in a rush, and can drop off either the bike or the starter (Fairly easy to remove.) I'd be happy to repair it for the cost of any parts needed. Worth it for me just to see you ride the Guzzi and make more videos. I'm in Ottawa, (Elmvale area.) retired and always looking for a project. Send me a PM.

You finally hooked me with all your smooth talking, great books and pleasant videos. A couple of weeks ago I did an 11 day loop on my '77 850-T3 from Massachusetts north bound up as far as Manic-Cinq in QC. What a delightful territory to explore.

Thanks for the continuing incentives.
Next year a bit of Labrador.

Great stuff n3303j. It gets even better beyond Manic5 although some of it is still unpaved. All paved now from Lab City across to the coast.
Glad you had a great trip. Super looking bike and my kind of tent.
Best

Bike and tent are both old friends. Tent has passed 20 years of service and the bike has passed 110,000 miles. Most of them mine.

Cool video.
Lotsa ADV in the rider, too - setting off into the wilderness with a dodgy starter like that.
Athough many times starter issues aren't completely catastrophic at first. I had an old Toyota with
a bad starter and an automatic. I had to save up a couple of paychecks to buy a new starter, but it
always, (eventually!) started until I repaired it.
Ron - I like your bike a lot. Very nice solo transport.
