I’m putting together a grab and go toolbox for the truck. It’s for the bikes as well as general mechanical stuff. All metric. Here’s what I have so far.
Open/box wrenches 8-24mm
Small 3/4 socket wrench and sockets 8-19mm
Flat and Phillips screwdrivers
Allen sockets 3-10mm
Test light
Zip ties
16ga wire and some various crimps
Needle nose pliers
Small vice grips
Some metric nuts and bolts
Bag of fuses
JB Weld
What am I forgetting?

Electrical tape and/or duct tape. Just my opinion.
-
Rope style tire plugger, small air compressor and a battery jump pack.

Nothing wrong with that in principle IMO, except to say that on the bike there aren't that many different sizes - maybe 3 bolt sizes?
My bike tool set only has the sizes that are on the bike - saves a bit of weight/space

PS I agree with BB1s suggestion of Jungle tape. You can cure a multitude of problems with that stuff

Crescent ranch and some whare. Pronunciation is important in this case, especially if you have a young person helping. File, rags and hand cleaner . Side cutter and flashlight. Money. Torx bits
-
Crescent wrench, pliers, cell phone and a credit card (or two)!!

Let's face it. The most likely problem you will have is a flat tire. Be able to fix that. The next will be electrical. Be able to trouble shoot and fix that. You are *not* going to be able to do a major overhaul on the road. (shrug)

I would think #1 would be a set of ramps to load the bike into the back of the truck (unless you're lifted impossibly high like me).

Carry a far extinguisher in case you have a tar far. Who can translate this for our yankee friends?

I'd carry a small multimeter over a test light any day. When it's not testing bunches of things the leads can be used as test jumpers.

Ratchet straps
Soft ties

Took me a minute.
Maybe also a section of hose for siphoning fuel.

I have used this. So far, always helping someone else.
Also, the tire plugging kit has fixed 2 Honda, a Yamaha, and one of those little Chevy cars. Haven't had an opportunity to use it on any of our stuff (yet)

Lose the test light . So many items are can-bus . A cheap multi meter will help prevent letting the smoke out of the wires or circuits

For a road box a test lite is a useful tool, as is a multi meter. Most electrical problems I deal with are on trailers and old stuff that a test light gives me a quick visual indication of power being present without needing to know the specific value.
-
Test light is kind of digital "yes or no" on active circuits.
Multimeter tests passive and active circuits and also allows a quantitative evaluation of an event

Throw in a few bandaids

Yes, but what does the toolbox look like, This was mine from 88-93. Final mod was a rack in center for my machinist box to work on bikes at the bike.

That would be hard to throw in my little Tundra Steve. This is the box that I bought:

I was reading a great piece in my BMW magazine about a trip to Patagonia. The writer said not to pack any tool you don’t know how to use. That alone limits my tool box size.

Anything you pack you won’t need ….it’s a preventative measure…
What you’ll need most is most likely what you don’t have…
So, don’t forget to pack your “kindness from strangers to help you get back on the road”
How about spare spark plug caps for those protuberances above and outside the protection from assfault? :azn:
-
I use a Ammo Pouch to transfer around, just big enough but not too much. A row of sockets, allen sockets, allen wrenchs, combination wrenches, ratchet, ext w/spark plug socket(fits Jeep & Guzzi's), and a vise grip puss screwdrivers.
It's similar to this

Sidecar box is out of my Comanche truck I had at the time. Then I got a tub & box went on a training bike.
