Does it have a link to a web page or just a FB page? Do a search for "product/company name Scam" and see what turns up. Use a credit card and file a complaint if it does not turn out to be what was advertised. Someone has got to be first.

After 3 experiences of purchasing an item from a Face Book add and getting scammed each time and than going through the daunting task of getting a pay pal refund I no longer even look at Face Book adds. Face book does not check out the online merchants and what’s worse is when report a scam they do little to nothing to remove or block the scammer from using an identical add with a different name and continue. As an example if you’ve seen the adds of name brand guitars for sale for less than a 1/3 of retail, I’ve been seeing those adds for a couple years and I report them as I know a teenager who couldn’t resist the offer, thinking if it is a scam he was protected and would easily get a refund from pay pal or the credit card company, 2 years later he’s still waiting. Yet Face book continues to allow the exact same add to be run, the scammer uses the same name of the guitar retailer ( who is legit, but doesn’t run adds on face book) but they change the name of the add purchaser.
I have had no problems buying from individuals from face book market place, but have heard recently this too is changing like Craig’s list becoming more questionable.
