Title: Voltage regulator question
Post by: toolittletime on October 28, 2022, 03:21:07 PM
I have the voltage regulator pictured on my 1974 Eldorado. I have Greg Benders wiring harness and relay setup. I recently checked the voltage when revving up the rpm's and
saw that the regulator jumped up over 16 volts dc. This seems high to me. Is there any adjustment on these regulators?
Thanks.........Tim

I found this after a bit of Googling:

After finding a few of those electromechanical units defective right out of the box, I switched to buying genuine Bosch solid-state voltage regulators. https://www.ebay.com/itm/115043066635

Yes the Bosch regulator is adjusted by bending the spring stop D

Great find, Charlie. I vaguely remembered those Bosch regulators being adjustable, from my "air cooled bug " days. Youre Da man!

Adjustment of mechanical regulators is really nothing more complicated that bending a tab to increase or decrease spring pressure. Somewhere around here I saved the instructions from a Standard Motor Products unit a half century ago, but in it's stead here's a generic instruction-.
