Evening,
I know we are a group and MG and dog lovers, I have a white GSD and my area is having a dog adoption day tomorrow and I see a dog Im interested in which is listed as a husky mix. I have had 3 GSDs and the dog listed looks more like my white GSD, I know there are husky owners here, Id like some other views and those with the breed, what do you think it looks like. Ive never had huskies but i thought they has fuller faces and quite fury, this dog looks more GSD to me, what say you.
The dog with the red leash is the dog up for adoption, the other 2 are my dog.

That’s a healthy intelligent looking canine. Go for it. This bisondoddle the wife brought home is just about more than I can handle :thewife:

I don't know what a GSD is. In my world GSD is Georgia School for the Deaf. Our last husky was gray. Current husky is black. If there are features unique to white huskys I'm not knowledgeable. Good looking do though.

GSD=German Shepherd Dog, That definably looks like a white German shepherd to me. I've had 4 GSD's over the years (none white) and I would bet a dollar it's a White one. Great dogs!!

I've had 5 Husky's over my life and all, but one has had an outstanding temperament and been very social with people. Running is their forte and exercise is a daily routine. They bring grooming to a whole different level, major undercoat in the winter. Great Dogs. I agree with the "mix" due to almond shaped eyes and of course the tail, shorter but more muscular legs. My$.02

I've only had one white husky, he supposedly was out of an Alaskan husky (mixed breed sprint dog) crossed to a registered Malemute. Don't ask me why someone did that. He was all white as a pup but his guard hairs (the longer ones they don't shed) turned a little tan as he got older. He was very friendly, smart, and he developed into a lead dog. Wished I had him now!

My wife and I have had six dogs in 30+ years of marriage. We've had all of them DNA tested.
Appearance means very, very little in terms of what the actual breed may be outside of a purebred dog.
Granted, DNA testing maybe be questionable, but it is probably more accurate than guessing.
In 15 plus years of volunteering at a local humane society, including being on the Board of Directors for more than 10 years, watching the interaction between humans and animals usually makes one like animals more and humans less.
Promoting a dog of unknown breeding as a purebred dog is one of the oldest bad habits in the dog resquing world. Often people who are looking for a specific breed or specific appearance have very little knowledge of that breed's characteristics.
Enjoy the dog, forget the breed. 98+% of dogs are great companions, if you learn to read their body language.
Always assume that dog training is about training yourself, rather than training the dog, and you will always be successful.

Often times, if there are problems adopting a new dog into the existing pack/family, it can reduced to sex rather than breed.
In my experience, getting multiple females to coexist peacefully is much more difficult than getting multiple males to get along, and the least problematic is a mixture of males and females.

How old is he suppose to be?
Even for an older dog, his ears don't look big enough.
Isn't there something about GSD having more teeth than other dogs?
How long is his tail? GSD seem to grow into their tail length.
The huskies I've seen seem to have a curve in their tail, GSD not so much.

Thanks for the replies, he was already rescued before I had a chance to leave the house. It was a husky mix but ukn on what the mix was. I have a white GSD and to me it looked more like a GSD than a husky but good news it went to a good home. Heres is my w gsd Tundra.

I had a Husky/GSD mix from about six months old to when he passed at age nine. Blond/tan on top fading to white on the bottom with brown eyes. THE smartest dog I've ever owned. Challenged me for top dog every day til he was close to two. Loved all kids, puppies, and kittens. I could take him to a party and just let him go. When it was time to leave I would find him playing with the kids. Was hell on chickens, though. I trained him for upland bird hunting. He was an awesome flusher, and would always find the bird after it went down. Was a lot of fun bringing him to the local fish and game club. "What in hell kind of bird dog is that?" RIP Rennie the Fox.
