Title: Clutch question
Post by: Deacon Sean on December 07, 2022, 10:27:45 PM
Hello, quick question about an '03 Titanium clutch.
The recall has been done before I had the bike, but as of the last few months (after a trip Indy to SC and back) when I start out in the morning the clutch slips pretty bad, but once I've been riding for 5ins or so (gets warmed up) it stops and is usually good until I park it for more than an hour or so. Anybody familiar with this or has any insight into what it might be and how to remedy?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Have you checked your cable adjustment? Is there a little slack at the hand lever?

+1 on the cable adjust.  DO NOT set your cable up taut.  There must be some small amount of slack or looseness when the hand lever is at rest.  Please report back.

Check the drip hole in the bell housing for any signs of oil.

I have checked the cable and there's plenty of slack... I will check it again. I will check for any oil and report back. Thanks guys.

So far the suggestions have been the easy things to look at. Hopefully they will solve your issue.

One more thing to look at. The clutch lever on the back of the trans. Does it hit the frame or anything with the hand lever released. There was a bike that the cable was fine, but the clutch slipped. The trans lever was hitting the frame keeping the clutch from fully engaging.

You could possibly have worn out clutch plates.
