Would you shoe an old Scrambler with trials or street tires? I have a set of Shinko universal trials which would give it that hipster look. I also have a set of Battlax BT 45s. They seem like the prudent choice. I doubt the bike will see any real off road action. It also will probably never see 60mph. It came with a very crusty set of Pirelli trials tires.

I had a Yamaha Trailmaster when I first started riding. It had trials tires, after having an up close and personal relationship with pavement a couple of times I put street tires on it. We also had a grated drawbridge in town, quite the experience going over that bridge with the trials tires.

Shinko 705's are a great all around tire that would fit the scrambler look and do so at a very good price point.

Ben, you need to think about where you'll be asking your scrambler to take you on your various rides. If you will be taking on mostly street and some mild off-road terrain from time to time, then a tire that is constructed to give you 80% street/20% dirt usage is what you need. If you will be doing more dirt/gravel than street, then obviously you'll need a tire constructed for that usage. I loved the Pirelli MT60's on my Ducati Scrambler. They were excellent road holders, decent on light trails, good in the wet, but, I never got great mileage out of them. The tire companies have made great progress in building really good tires to suit a riders taste and pocketbook. You may need to spend time in tire catalogs at a good dealer. Pay attention to the correct wheel sizes and various ratio aspects you have decided you want for your riding needs. Write down your choices and then go look them up on your computer for reviews......... questions from knowledgeable people. It worked for me ! The Kid

What size tires does it wear? There might be some classic tire options that are more well rounded in terms of aesthetic and function.
Trials tires are usually a very soft compound which results in quick wear when you're riding them on paved surfaces, especially at speed. It's part of the compromise. If you either aren't riding many miles, or don't mind replacing tires more frequently, then it can be a non-issue.
Michelin Anakee Adventure have been my favorite 80/20 tire, they're simple enough that they might look good on a Scrambler if they fit. I ran them on my modern Ducati Scrambler.

I put a set of Shinko 705's on my DR200 and transformed it into the best mannered machine (On or OFF) road. They are the idea tire for a scrambler that I can imagine.
60/40 road/trail and priced to be "Friendly" :grin:

Figure where you are you will run into pavement, or sand.. Im thinking a more street friendly tire will be better in both.

Here’s what I have in the garage now. The Avon is a replacement already spoken for. I’ve ordered a rear to match the Bridgestone.

So it’s down to the Shinko vintage trials tires or the Bridgestones. Riding will short slow speed runs be out for coffee and to work across town. This will be more of a rusty patina-annoy the second home owners-poser bike so I’m leaning towards the Shinkos.

Shinko 705s last a long time too I put them on my 07 Bonneville black with and without the side car, They handled the crappy roads of St Croix usvi and Dirt roads in parts of fl. The 07 calvin i bought from antmanbee had them for 2 sets got about10k on each rear
