If this link works, here is some fun, non-guzzi content. See if you recognize a young Clint Eastwood.
Note the perceptions of riders by the cafe owner. Do you think the general population really still feels this way about us?

I think it has changed over the years...but I guess it depends on what part of the country, ???
I am always happy to see banners outside of restaurants and bars that read: "WELCOME BIKERS!"
I like when he says...."You motorcycle BUMS!!"   :thumb:  :boozing:

I think the public is more weary of the crotch rocket power ranger guys than the helmetless club guys.
-
We’ve come a long way since that stereotype.
However, after hearing the valve clatter on Broderick Crawford’s Mercury, I think he would have understood Wild Guzzi riders.

My 98yo Italian mother thinks that anyone who rides a motorcycle is a Hells Angel...LOL
The way some of these guys on sport bikes ride through traffic around here, the ones on sport bikes, we call them squids, I can see how the public can form negative opinions.

Remember this classic line by Peter Fonda:
"We just wanna be free....FREE to ride our machines and not be hassled by The Man!"

Well that insignia on the back of the leather jackets is pretty intimidating.

My brother has a problem when touring the southwest with the pirates giving him the hard stare.
Personally I find those restaurants usually have the best burgers.
the only time I had a problem with the pirates was at a local bar on band night. One of their young ones parked his bike 5 inches from my R69. Heard him say he would beat the shit out of me if I scratched his bike. He didn't know the president and some older club members knew me. They laughed at him and told him he should park his bike better.

That was good..!
1965… I was 7 years old.

Back in the 90's I loved rolling into New Cumberland WV for the rally and seeing banners that said "Welcome Motto Guzzi!"

"We just wanna be free....FREE to ride our machines and not be hassled by The Man!"
"And we wanna get LOADED"

Is this thread about old cops, old movies, or old bikes?
Maybe it’s safe to jump in…..this time🤔
Here’s the first Winston Salem PD motor cop on a knuckle head.

I just thought it was interesting for the motorcycles, young Clint, no riding gear at all unless you count the jackets and boots, the attitude of the shop keeper (enhanced for dramatic effect). Every bike in the show was an H-D. I appreciated the fact that the officers remained open minded about the riders.

I got 1/2 way through it last night before the dinner bell rang. I saw it was over 26 minutes long. They were 30 minute shows so that left less than four minutes for ads. My how times change!

Cycle bums and wheel peelers, could be a fun group to hang with.

Just like all encounters in life, you never know what someone has experienced that they lay on you instead of those they want to encounter.
Like the frustrated with his life guy that beats his wife, or the road rage guy.
Most of my in person encounters with the general public have been very positive.
I can see how people would be leery of packs of anything.

Thanks for posting that one. I usually watch Highway Patrol when I get up at 4am and turn on the tv but I’ve not seen that episode. Then there’s two episodes of Dragnet and that’s enough tv for me.
