A good buddy of mine was thinking about parting this old girl out. Queue the ASPCA Sara McLaughlin music and it's in my garage.

I test rode one, very nice bike. Good power and fairly comfy. Actually more comfy than a Speed Triple for me.
-
What is wrong with it?
Don't know much about that Triumph line. Don't they have a common problem that requires removing the engine and splitting the cases?
-
Some minor cosmetic damage, not too bad. Mechanically, supposedly nothing. I plan on installing a new battery, hooking the fuel lines up and seeing how she does.

This one cranks over like a champ.

Some Triumphs have a problem with the shifter shaft if the bike falls on it. It can be repaired without splitting cases or removing the engine. The only other issue that I know of is the harness can be damaged where it goes around the steering stem. I have a T120 Bonneville that I am very happy with.

Too bad you are so far away. I have a work acquaintance that has one parked in his basement for a long time now. I tried to work out a purchase of two bikes he has parked with gas with the intent on selling one to help pay for the other and he balked at the idea. Only wanted to sell to someone who would cherish  like he has (letting them rot in his basement) I'd guess you could get a good price on it and combined have a nice bike.

ran her around the block. Tires are ancient. Throttle is hanging up somewhere. other than that, she's a runner.

Uhhh....What's the problem again??? 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ Did he scare himself off of motorcycles?
-
Not scared off of bikes, he has one to restore and a sweet Guzzi. The re-sale on triumphs isn't the greatest. Fortunately my mediocre mechanical skills are enough to get her going again.

I would love one of those, the yellow 900 daytona is slowly starting to pick up classic status over here , with prices increasing.

She's fully running and set up. I didn't have to do much and I'm impressed over all. This bike was jetted and dyno tuned back in the day and it feels great. We put on new Conti sport attack tires and my buddy Tom Hull set up the suspension. I thought it would be a slower version of my Daytona 1200, but I was wrong. The triple has it's own personality.

I really loved the 1998 Sprint Executive I owned. Had it for five years. It was a fantastic bike.
It was geared tall. One thing I did was put on a chain and sprocket set from a Tiger. Man! that woke it up!
They were great bikes. Wish I could keep them all.

I bought a Sprint, a 900 triple, in '96, rode it 60,000mi. I lowered the gear a little, one tooth on the countershaft sprocket as I recall. As Rocker59 says, they were geared tall. Mine overcharged the battery and would overheat it, went through a battery a year until I replaced the regulator/rectifier if memory serves. The only negative thing I could say about the bike is that it was top-heavy. I had to be careful in tight u-turns. Otherwise it was a great bike.

But the 6.6 gallons was sure nice to have!

I figured the 900 would suck compared to my Daytona 1200. Nope, this old gal rips. I'm new to triples and I think I've been missing out. It doesn't hurt that it was Dyno tuned by Triple Specialties back in the day. Nolan told me she made 100 rwhp on two different dynos and I believe it.

Wow! It's great when you bring home an old gal and she cleans up nice like that.

Nice find Turin! She sure cleaned up nicely. I took one apart for painting a few years ago, and what impressed me the most is the quality of all the bodywork. The plastics were very thick, and well made. I did some plastic welding repairs, and gave it a gloss black paint job, with gold pin stripes. It was a classy bike for sure.
Good luck with yours,
Rick D.

Love those eccentric chain adjusters. My old 04 Tiger had those too. My current 08 Sprint ST has an eccentric hub in the single sided swing arm.

Took a breakfast ride with Turin yesterday. The triumph is very nice! Sounds absolutely lovely.

Next time I might bring the 1200!
