Title: A little love for the poor Centauro...
Post by: JJ on April 11, 2023, 03:51:16 PM
At 20,518 miles now, "a little LOVE" required for the 2023 riding season...

* Two new Shinko Raven tires, front & rear...
* Oil & filter change...
* New battery

The tires were 3 years old and have a little over 4,000 miles on them.  I suspect I could have milked them another thousand miles, but the wear marks starting to show, and I am not the kind of rider who runs tires down to when the cord sarts showing.  Your life RIDES on your tires, cheap insurance. :thumb:

The battery, (Odyssey  Gel Cell), was 6 years old, and recently did the "click-click-click" during a cold morning start up...My experience is that is time to replace it.  Again, cheap insurance in the long run. :wink:

Oil and filter change is a good idea every season.  Anyway, she is now ready to GO for 2023. :thumb: :cool:  :boozing:

You could have saved that battery, JJ. (cheap Guzzi content.) There is a specific method of charging an AGM. I had one go 12 years..another 10, and I changed it just because..

Thanks, Huzo! :thumb: :wink:

I have had four Guzzi's in my time, and this one seems to be my favorite so far...

* '78 850 Le Mans
* '93 SP1000-III
* '02 V11 Le Mans
* '83 850 Le Mans III

It's quirky....it's rare....it's fast...it handles well...it brakes well...and it fits me will ( 5'8" height /  30" inseam)

I've had 17 of em. (!) Small blocks, big blocks, 2V, 4V, loved them all in their own way. The Centauro is a close second to the Mighty Scura.

Agreed JJ
Its the one I refer to as the last of the big hairy chested MGs.
There is nothing like the sound and feeling of rolling on the throttle and thundering through the mountain roads in my area.   :cool:

Ciao
