Title: haul bikes
Post by: kingoffleece on April 11, 2023, 11:05:56 PM
Anybody got a good contact for a bike hauler?  I used HaulBikes and they did well, but expensive.
Looking to get bike from NY to AZ.
THX in advance.

For cross country I’ve used Haulbikes the last few times. They are a little pricey but very well organized.

Someone is picking up my G5 tonight on Cape Cod and hauling it to my buyer in Dallas. They are coming on very short notice.  I don’t know the driver’s name but his cell number is 929-428-4990.  He’s picking up in NH, Boston and here and heading west. Maybe you can catch him.

This guy is independent and all he does is bikes. Crisscrossing the country all the time, depending on schedule it could work for you at reasonable cost. I forgot the name of his company..

I used Haul Bikes in January of 2022 to bring a bike from AZ to PA cost was $595.00 which was cheaper than the other bike hauling services and $1,500 to $2,000 less expensive than some of the independent couriers that bid on your shipment. I will say the independent couriers would have had me the bike in 3 days a Haul Bikes took about a month.

=I didn't realize the 1st 2 or 3 times I was asked if I'd ride someone's bike to a bike rally. I'd hang for the weekend and ride it back - often with less than 50 miles added. On occasion I would turn it into another 'Bun Burner Gold +, and often get flown home. Izzat generous or not?

I've ridden 3 rental bikes back to their renters. Never cared to know why. One was an overnight trip - including a paid sleep over, plus 4 meals.

Very sorry to say; I cannot do it any longer.  R3~

I've used Keyboard Motorcycle Transport. The last time was in December to move a bike from Texas to Maine. Excellent service!!

THX all.  Haul Bikes came in with best price and timing.  I've used them before and service was top notch.

I bought "my" Jackal back again from the original owner, who sold it, bought it back, sold it to me, then I sold it to him, and now back to me!
Just HAD to have it again.  Loved it.

My G5 went out the door tonight. Two young men Vadym Ostropolets and Igor Churkin picked it up for my buyer. They had a four motorcycle van.  Their price to haul the Guzzi from the outer Cape (way out of the way east) to Dallas was $900.00.  I really liked them and they haul cross country on short notice. They told me that they haul new bikes for Arch motorcycles.  I will use them in the future for east-west work and Simon Tack for eastern seaboard.  Cell is 929.428.4990.

Did you find space, or part with the V85TT?

That would make a great rally story around the campfire.  There must be a lot of interesting details.

Space?  Not really.  The V85 will have to live outside under a cover.  Not happy about it but it's the only real solution-for now.

In my Az 55+ neighborhood 50% of the homes are vacant 6-9 months a year. If yours is similar befriend one of the owners and offer to watch his place if you can store your bike there. I've had bikes, jeeps, trailers etc in mine while I'm gone. Then get a guy with one small car, but, a two car garage to let you use some space the rest of the time. Maybe offer to help him with small repairs.

No help on the Haul bikes thing, but glad to hear you got your old bike back. Sounded like you regrated selling it almost right off the bat when you did before you moved.

Beautiful bike.
On the Haul Bikes issue.
Personally I had one great experience and one nightmare with the company. However if I ever needed another bike shipped I’d use them again if they offered the best price.
Be advised to strictly adhere to their pre pickup rules because if you don’t they will not make any adjustments, regardless how minor, when they arrive to get the bike and you will be charged an additional 250.00 for them to return.
