Title: Another Startus question
Post by: gscott on May 16, 2023, 03:34:05 PM
Isn't the yellow wire that feeds the small start relay (that is bypassed for the Stage 1 startus fix) a 'keyed hot' wire?  I thought it was.  I'm using that wire to feed 86 on the relay to complete my Stage 2 startus fix push button override.  No love.  That wire isn't hot at key on, or start button run position.  Or even at cranking position for that matter.

Is there a fuse for that wire?  I don't find any open fuses and not sure where it would be if there is.

Thanks

The good news is if I power that 86 terminal directly the button works and the factory switch is working and the smoke didn't escape!  I'd just rather have a keyed hot.

If anyone cares this is the logic I used to install a relay for the bypass button to power the solenoid.  Seems to work except the yellow wire in the harness to start relay is not hot with key on.  Works if 86 is connected to battery.

Thought it might help someone that has never done it before.  Like me.  There's lots of ways to skin this cat.

The yellow wire to cut & connect to +12V and fuse is the yellow wire that ends at Fuse B on the multi panel under back seat. It is for park lights & starter . That fuse is fed by 12V from feed to 2 other fuses. Make sure you have the correct yellow.
Same yellow wire goes to ign relay.

BINGO!

It was Fuse B blown.  As you said, I also had no parking lights.  All better now!   Thanks so much!

Button works!  Of course the OEM system seems to be working now also, with a second new yuasa battery of 19.8AH instead of the same group 20 Batteries+ 18AH one.  But hopefully peace of mind to not be stuck again.

I mounted the switch into the battery box, and can reach it with my right hand whilst seated on the bike, left hand on clutch.

Thanks Foto.  Looks like we did similar, tho I switched the ground side.  Unfortunately your diagram doesn't match the relay layout and without the terminal numbers left a dummy like me scratching his head.  Took me awhile grazing the internets to get it sorted.

Hopefully I'll make it to Grand Marais now!
