Title: 2020 Moto Guzzi V85 TT ADVENTURE on eBay
Post by: Kaladin on May 17, 2023, 11:19:33 AM
There is a 2020 Moto Guzzi V85 TT ADVENTURE on eBay at the moment.  There is an unknown
reserve.  I don't know what the reserve is, but I do know that it is higher than $3k

Bid the most you would be willing to buy it for and let us know if you hit the reserve.

So you placed a max bid $3,000 on a $13,000 motorcycle?

I've always been curious about the point of that type of bid?  I see it a lot of this on auctions on Ebay and other places.  A lot of early bidders will place low bids, then never follow up with additional competitive bids.

My wife would kill me if I spent $10k on another motorcycle.  But putting a bid that I could afford in lets me see the new bids automatically.

Bidding got up to $3050, only two bids, the reserve was not met, auction over.

Nothing wrong with bargain hunting. I put a low bid on my (ex) Griso Tenni SE and actually won the auction. Probably paid about $1500 below value. Seller was complaining that he should have set a higher reserve.

The one at Cadre is my ex-bike.  It has 25,000 miles, new tires and service with a few extras.  That is a very fair price for a bike that never had a warranty repair and includes the y-pipe cross over, tubeless rims and center stand.  I expect the reserve was probably about that figure on the auction bike. They are fine machines.  I just decided that I was no longer comfortable on the balls of my feet after 4 seasons and missed the 1400 engine, so, when Cadre offered a 1400 Eldorado, I traded.  The 1400 engine is truly addictive.

"Bid to lose", I've won a no reserve Bring A Trailer auction that way and it was a nice surprise. On eBay in particular people will place a low bid just to lock in an item just so the seller can't modify the listing or cancel it (without risk of paying a fee).
