Title: Guzzi at Mecum Auction

Once again, Mecum proves they have no clue what they are selling. I'm sure if you were to ask them they would tell you that they are basing the description on information provided by the seller. However, a quick search on the web would reveal the fact that there is no such thing as a 1920 Moto Guzzi and a look at a picture of a Normale would show that this bike is not one. Aside form all that, a 1930 Sport 14 will be up for auction in September.

A 1920 wouldn't be a factory Guzzi, I would think it would be a GP. Don't know much about it. What is it Joe? You ought to know by the case # I would think.

I went to the 2018 Mecum Las Vegas show and was appalled at the sloppy descriptions given of most all the Italian motorcycles being auctioned.

They are sloppy with all of the motorcycles. ( I'm not sure if they do a decent job with the Antique Harleys )

I contacted them about an issue with one of the other National Motorcycle Museum listings, an Indian Westerner, because they had it listed as a twin cylinder when it's a single. They promptly corrected it and said they have someone working through the listings trying to find any more issues. There's certainly a disconnect between people putting up the listings and people familiar with the motorcycles, but Mecum handles such a wide variety of bikes I imagine some level of detail would be hard to get past, you can't have an expert for everything but you can certainly count how many cylinders are on an engine.

One thing that has always driven me nuts at that museum, the Moto Guzzi logo upside down on the fender of this bike:

I don't know if that's correct or not, but it looks wrong to me.
