I am trying to change the plug wire boots on my 08 Calvin. What a place to get at, is there a good way to get at the coil?
I’m thinking a long pair of needle nose pliers but don’t want to damage the plug wires.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Take off gas tank, take off frame covers. There they are, uncovered.

still a PITA to get at even with the tank and the covers off.... even more annoying to get back on.
to the OP - really sorry, but IMO there's no easy way. I actually converted my Calvin to carbs and digital ignition and my coils now sit in a nice accessible bracket that I made for them, never having to get in at those coils again is a real bonus.
On the other hand those square coils are pretty reliable, even if the cheapo ignition leads that guzzi supplies with the bike aren't.

I finally got the plug wire boots replaced with a extra long double jointed needle nose pliers.
I pulled them loose from the coil and was able to pull them out so I could change boots after un plugging them at the spark plug.
The low speed miss is gone and seems to run better at speed. I will find out next weekend when I ride it to the Wisconson Rally.
About 2 weeks ago I was asking about the fuel line disconnect and got some good info but still couldn’t get the raken- fraken thing to disconnect.
Next time I’m going to cut the line a put a union in there with hose clamps. Has anyone tried that?
Thanks for the help.

yes the hose clamp thing works well. you can even extend the hose if you like, so it's easier to prop the tank out of the way without having to remove it.
IIRC I ended up relocating my fuel filter outside the tank too.
