Galveston Dave Delmenhorst?  In his van or on the motorcycle?

Bike....update it sounds like bumps and bruises at this point and he may be released...

It sounds like a heavy downpour blinded him in a curve...

My goodness....spare some good thoughts for our buddy for a full and speedy recovery.  Here's hoping for another shrimp boil and his "tender" presence.

A Guzzi buddy and a character among charters.

Dave is a good old boy, and Augie makes Franks old chihuahua look like it just came outa the pet cemetery!

Hey Dave, sorry to hear about your mishap!  Heal up soon. I hear broken ribs are no fun! Glad Augie is ok! GRIT rally is coming up Sept 29 - Oct 1.  Hope you feel like making it!

Dave, Heal fast. Want to hear some good jokes? I couldn't help myself as broken ribs and laughter don't go together.

Dave,
Some old hard core bikers want to know how is your Guzzi?

The last time I saw him he had a white 2013 V7 Stone.  But he may have bought something different

The bike was not too bad...broken windshield, LH hard pannier, headlight bucket, LH mirror, LH turn signal, leaking rear brake MC (we think).
Crash bars did their job and cylinder heads look ok.
Catron County Sheriff's Deputy came to camp yesterday and took pics of bike.
Never did hear what Albuquerque hospital he is in...
His riding buddy is moving his RV, bike, and trailer to an RV park they had planned to visit after Datil and will pick Dave up in Albuquerque when he is discharged.
He will be pretty sore for quite a while.
From the amount of mud packed into the bike's nooks and crannies, it appears he hit some pretty soft road shoulder or ditch ground when he left the roadway.
According to Matt Forslund, first accident in all the years of the GRIN Rally.

That's all I know.

I hope to know the hospital location later today. Will post when I find out.
Just got back a bit ago from the Rally. Just the afternoon before his wreck he and I were discussing my get off last May. Hope I didn't jinx him. There were a number of brief, isolated rains throughout the area last Friday and some had very heavy rain at least briefly. Quite a few out riding were caught up in those at one time or the other.

Thanks for the updates. If you read this Dave wish you all the best and thank you for all the help and guidance. You and Charlie have been monumental in making Guzzi great for more than a few people.

We wish Dave all the best- heal up quickly and well.
I'd suggest keeping an eye on the heart, if he got a heart contusion.  My Father in Law got a bruise to the heart from a car wreck (he was 80, though) and it eventually morphed into an arrhythmia and a pacemaker.  I'm not trying to be a downer- just keep an eye on it.

This was his bike (left side damage...), after they hosed the mud / dirt off...It is not nearly as bad as previously thought...

Hate to hear of these types of injuries,
ribs, heart etc.. You wonder if an air bag vest may have been just the ticket.
I've recently started wearing one and hope to never find out.
Hopeful prayers to you.

Dave:  I really wished you had checked with me first.

I would have told you it really sucks to toss your V7 Stone down the road and go pavement surfing.  Do not recommend.

Hey now, I wasn't involved this time and I managed to ride to and from the rally upright this time. Motorcycles are more fun upright.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!!

A few years ago,  I rode home from Mandello with 3 broken ribs! I tripped over a tent rope as I was making a last look around before I left.

I knew it hurt and went to the hospital here, directly upon returning. 3 broken ribs! Good thing I use a big 'ol kidney belt when I travel. It helped a lot!
