I picked up my Marina on Wednesday. It is an amazing bike. It is the best handling bike I have ever ridden although I haven't ridden any other modern other than my Guzzis and my '22 Bonneville. The Bonneville handled like a dump truck compared to the Mandello. One aspect that stands out it maintains the line through a curve with out any further input. Fuel mileage appears to be pretty good however I have put only 100 miles on it so far. Power is good but I haven't really wound it out yet, trying to do a decent break in. The torque curve is pretty flat like my other Guzzis, it pulls well from low revs. I am going to have to put risers on it as it is hard on my arms especially at low speeds. I am not a young guy anymore so comfort is important to me. Shifting is stiff, infact it will not go into neutral at a stop from either 1st or 2nd even when lifting or pushing on the shifter somewhat forcibly. I called the dealer this morning and he said it needs some miles on for it to loosen up. It feels like a hard stop and I thought there might be a step that needs to be taken to ensure it goes into neutral but there is nothing in the manual. Even rocking it back and forth doesn't help even with engaging the clutch slightly. I ordered the side cases but no definite answer as to when they will arrive. I like the color scheme, so far I have seen a white and a red one but I don't really care for either. I don't really care for red and the white didn't really pop for me. Overall I am happy with the bike.

Congrats on your Mandello purchase. It is a fantastic machine and the more miles you rack up the more you will find to like about it. :thumb:

Looks like a whale to me

All in good humor , OK?

nice bike. It's a sporting machine.

That looks pretty darn nice :thumb:

That looks great. I'm sure you will have many miles of riding enjoyment. MG is really good with the styling and color choices. Let us know how your time with it goes by. Some, myself included would be interested in whether and how the transmission changes with the miles.

Congratulations on the V100. The V100 is the best sport touring bike I have ever ridden.
I think finding neutral will become easier. I have no problem with mine.

+1. A bit mysterious. Perhaps Marina is an old girlfriend's name?

Good luck with the new bike.

Had one in 1976…

Congratulations on your new Guzzi.
I think it’s a very attractive machine, the gray paint is the first example I have seen, I like it! The V100 is the first modern Guzzi I have seen that checks the boxes for me, I have ridden several CARC bikes, various V7’s and the V85 TT but none hit the mark for me.
I can see selling my big BMW K1600 in another year and getting a svelte modern V100 in its place.

Ok, I guess I had to be the one to ask…
What the hell is going on with the “Marina” thing ?

The link to the Moto Guzzi web page states:
"The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello Aviazione Navale, inspired by the F-35B fighter jet"
The aircraft looks to be a Harrier jump jet, or am I missing something??

T he way I understand it is that the Italian air force at the time Moto Guzzi started was under the Navy, hence Marina. It may still be but that I don't know but I suppose I could look it up. When I walked into the dealership for info on my Triumph this bike was sitting next to a red one. It was screaming at me to take her home with me. I came back a few days later and rescued her. My wife fractured her leg at work a week ago so she is on the disabled list. So I have been doing domestic chores this morning so I could take a few hours off this afternoon so I can go for a spin. I will work on that gearbox, so far no matter what I try it will not go into neutral at a stop. The shifter feels like a hard stop but will shift into neutral just fine when moving at just a few mph.
So far I like the bike a lot.

With what little research I have done the F-35B is a vertical take off jet built by Lockheed Martin. They are replacing the Harriers already in their force with these. Their carrier isn't too big so they apparently use jump jets.

Both of my Guzzi's (T and v65) do this. It helps to keep the clutch adjustment right to the minimum gap listed in the specs, but neither is easy to get into neutral at a full stop. So I've gotten into the habit of slipping it into neutral as its still rolling. Kind of a pain, but figure it's a Guzzi thing, so have gotten used to it after 30+ yrs.
How's Quincy, still see the Lomas brothers? Mike was up here this summer and saw him for the first time in maybe 20 yrs. When I teased him about his grey hair, he said he had it chromed. Still the joker!

I thought it was spaghetti sauce.Btw,my t3 does that too.

It is a cute, pretty name for a young, Italian signorina....famous ly the name of this song:

“Italian Military Marine”, limited to 1913 units, year founded…
Ah so, refers to the specific military colors
-
You got it, Mopar.
Marina Militare translates to the Navy military branch. Hence, the Guzzi ads on an aircraft carrier.
It is also a female name and refers to other things related to the sea (mare).
Naming it Marina is quite geniale!
Congrats.

Haven't seen Mike or Tom in awhile. Talked to Curtis a couple of months ago. When I was first looking at the Marina Curtis was signing papers but I didn't get to talk to him. I found out when I got my bike a few days later that he had purchased a Royal Enfield but I don't know which model.

I took it for a 80 mile ride today on a very windy, twisty road with a lots of steep grades. I made a point of doing a lot of shifting and going down to first when I could. I can report the transmission is working properly, going to neutral is working now but is still a bit stiff. This bike is an absolute jewel in the handling department. The road I was on is quite challenging however I felt more confident than I ever have on other bikes. The fuel light came on just as I got home I will fill up and figure mpg when I fill up. The optimistic speedometer isn't so bad after all, it reads 2 to 3 mph over not matter what speed, same as my V7lll, Audace and Bonneville. The error isn't linear just a set amount. I am going to really enjoy this bike. :thumb:

Beautiful bike. This site is a bad influence. Still going back and forth on v85 vs the v100…. Decisions decisions anyways time to mull it over as unexpected expenses are currently being dealt with.
Congratulations on an amazing bike.

Pretty amazing guzzi connected thru the Italian military to produce this…
Can you think of any other manufacturer to hook up w authorized military insignia?…..🤔 cop bikes, sure, but …

Here it is. Gruppo Aerei Imbarcati. And I agree, Guzzi's design department is great.

Dang! That’s intense. Anyone interpret the wording?
Isn’t that the original Red Riding Hood Wolf? Wow, brings up some werewolf/dark woods connections too..wowza
Wonder if they’re available as replacement parts..

^^^ Although they don't display it , Harley-Davidson could show the picture of the 500lb bombs that they can start to produce with
a single day notice . Between the factory and the testing circuit is an amazing array of covered equipment in a Large separate building
(with it's own rail line) that's sole purpose is for the production of 500 lb bombs ! That's a kind of military connection :) . Peter

HD has a Fat Boy model. I would guess the Fat Boy that flew over Japan looked to be heavier than 500 lbs at least in the pictures I have seen.

F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing variant (replaces Harrier). Since these plans have just started production, I'm guessing the Guzzi couldn't purchase one for it's photo shoot. (yet)
