Title: Bobbins on V7 Suspension mount
Post by: Auckland76Lemans on October 30, 2023, 12:43:34 AM
Hi folks, I own a V7 Stone Special edition (850cc E5). I'd like to use a convenient paddock stand.
Has anyone added the usual bobbins to their suspension mounts.
Here is a picture of the stock suspension mount with allen head bolt and machined washer.

What I'm thinking of is replacing the existing (M6?)Allen head bolt   with a longer one and adding a bobbin on each side e.g. like the Shin Yo brand, but with long enough threaded screws.

But I can't find any examples of anyone doing this online so I'm wondering if this is a bad idea or safety issue?
unlike some otehr models, v7 850 appears to have identical bolts on each side, not one side with bold and nut.

I thought about adding paddock stand bobbins since, due to installing the sidecar mounts to both of my bikes, I can no longer have a center stand on either machine. I’m curious if there’s enough space between the shock mount and the exhaust for them to exist peacefully. Here are some photos I found online for visual reference:

I did a similar thing on my LeMans by replacing the nuts for the rear shocks with a bobbin, not quite the same but the same location and a similar idea.

Yeh, I had the same idea but found the height to the bobbin didn't give enough lift for most stands. So you would have to modify the stand. You'll also find it'll foul removing the axle.

My pitbull with the universal adapter works fine, and I use a center lift for wheel replacement as I have to remove the drive box anyway because of a wider rear tire.
