I found this video on making a tool for removing gauge rings. I have one I made out of wood but it’s just a block of wood that I turned an indent in to hold the gauge while working on the ring. This one looks like it would work well so I may have to make one if I get time this winter. I see he has some videos on other stuff that may be useful
