If you could only have one motorcycle for the next 5 years, and it had to be a Guzzi, what bike would you pick? Let's imagine that it would be brand new, regardless of when it was made.
Rationally, the V85TT and the V100 Mandello are the best Guzzis for my kind of use. However, I would stay with a 2017 V9 Roamer. Which is surprising even to me, since it is not the most comfortable, nor the best looking, nor the most practical, and definitely not the best performing. But it gives me the greatest sensations. I'd go for one in red, though, not my white.
-
Well I only do have one, and lack of garage space, and extra funds always going to my other car/truck projects will odds are keep it that way. I have a 02 cali stone metal. It really does it all. The base platform it sporty for the backroads, but shes long legged enough for the big roads. I wasnt really looking for a cruzer bike at all, but I fell into this close to home, and the shape, and low miles made it come home. The lower bars, and pegs of the Stone models makes it feel much more sporty, and the big crome tank of the metal really stands out. Its really a lifetime bike to me.. That being said, if I could get any bike to last the rest of time it would be a 1000S.First Guzzi I rode, and the one that drew me to the brand. When Im too old to ride, it would end up in the living room as art to look at in my advancing age.
-
I agree, the 1000S is a pretty bike. Personally, I prefer the green stripes and the cast wheels.
-
Ok…
Brand new, zero km…?
This.

Slam dunk.

If I could only own one, it would have to be the V7III because it is as close to a UJM as it gets for Moto Guzzi.
But, to go along with it I would have shelves full of bolt on accessories:
Touring Kit:
- Full Luggage
- Touring Seat
- Windshield
- Highway Pegs
- Engine Guards
- LED Running Lights
Adventure Kit:
- Wire Wheels with Dual Sport Tires
- Skid Plate
- Arrow High Exhaust
- Longer Travel Suspension
This all would be in addition to my current Café Kit:
- Moto Guzzi Quarter Fairing
- Traxxion Dynamics Front Cartridge suspension
- LSL Aluminum Clubman bars
- Napoleon Bar End Mirrors
- Sato Racing Rear Sets
- Mistral Shorty Mufflers
- Café Seat from Racer
- Bitubo Adjustable Shocks with Red Springs
If I was changing how I ride which is why I was going down to one bike I also love the 1000S with the green frame and graphics.

My '69 Ambassador. I've owned it since April '97. This is the ride it turned over 100,000 miles.

2003 Stone with valve train update.

Because I am old and unfortunately or fortunately getting older. I would need a bike I could still handle when I become more decrepit, so it would have to be the V7lll Special already in the garage/shop. Even though I got it just a few months ago I know I will not be able to handle the Mandello in just a few years so it will be the V7. I will not be unhappy with it as it is a great bike, bullet proof, easy to service and enjoyable to ride. :thumb:
kk
Edit: I would have to upgrade the suspension though. I rode it to Reno once for it's initial service. It was not a comfortable ride but I also had Audace at the time. I guess I was used to the Audace and expected more from the V7. In the V7's defence the roads here are terrible. We occasionally have signs put out "Rough Road Ahead". I am tempted to steal one and place it at the California border north of Reno.

My 850T3; we've passed 100K together and the bike will reliably take me anywhere I choose to go.
Although once I'm too decrepit for two wheels there will always be my Ural.

From early 1990 till 2011 my T-3 was my only bike. No regrets.

I have the green version but would be happy with this bike, but not with that seat. It would have to be a Sargent seat

^ Solid suggestion.
If it has to be a new (current production) model, then I would go here:
(https://i.ibb.co/M5KtmYj/2023-Moto-Guzzi-V100-Mandello-S-right-side.jpg) (https://ibb.co/M5KtmYj)
But if I could choose any model from any year, I'd go with some version of this (my preference is a civilian in white - but I just liked this image).

If I had to get rid of all my bikes but one I keep the SPNT,it is set up to travel and sporty enough for local rides.

I already have that one bike. 2016 Eldorado.

I'd have to go with the Quota 1100. I've owned two. The quota was my commuter, grocery getter, touring bike, and made a halfway decent sportbike.
-
If I could only have one it would be a 2010 to end of production California vintage. If it had to be modern then it would be the new Stelvio.
I’m really enjoying the Calvin for my kind of riding. Spent the day getting it ready for 2024. Still have work to do but it’s close. It my perfect combo of touring and sporty handling. The lemans is fun but not my cross country bike. The EV is a great bike but I prefer the look of the vintage. I’m really sold on the tonti frame 1100 bikes.
I’ve never spent anytime on a spII but would love to try one as I really like the looks of that bike and figure it would be a good touring set up as well. One day I’ll find one and bring it home.
-
If i couldnt get a real Teliao Rosso (sp?- its been a long day) a brand new 1973 V7 Sport like i have would be the pot of gold at the end of my rainbow.
But, if i had to get rid of my old V7 Sport to have it, no deal. I'll keep my old one and be perfectly happy.
-
Probably this one, so I could put 165,000 miles on it like I did on this!!

I'd imagine this doing me just fine for the next 5 years.. I may miss the roll-on power of the mighty GRiSO but this checks all my boxes otherwise.

Only one??? Man that is tough. Going off what I know and have?
Griso?
1200 Sport?
Stornello?
Convert?
750 Baby Breva?
8V Norge?
MGX-21?
I'd have to say the 1200 Sport as an all around fantastic bike, but I would HATE to loose the Griso for all it is, and would sorely miss the V7 Stornello that is perfect with the exception of lack of power...... Then again, I would never want to loose the Convert. The Baby Breva could go away tomorrow, but man I would regret losing any of the others. SO GLAD this is theoretical ;- )
-
I think mine would be a V11 Lemans Corsa with hard bags, but the 1000S is a tempting response. I don’t own either, but I have multiple bikes and multiple brands so had never considered the question.
-
I'd love to have this exact setup with a larger windshield if I could only have one. I wish I could afford to snag one of these up. It seems to me to be a perfect blend of sport and tour with ample power and from what I read, fantastic handling and performance. So it would scratch my itch for speed, and touring with power and handling to boot. All the things I require.

Sloan's in Murfreesboro is an Indian Dealer as well as Moto Guzzi so I'm sure you would work out a nice trade with them.

Trades are tough. If they loaded up the 100S with all the available awesome options, I'd be very tempted.

For me as much as I hate to say it the V85TT would probably be my choice. I prefer the adventure bike platform over sport or standard. I had a Quota and my 1st will be my last. Never rode a Stelvio 1200 but I do not like Guzzi 4V motors. If the Stelvio came with a 2V 1100 that would be a different story. The V85TT overall I really dislike but it the lightest and I think has electronic cruise control so coupled with panniers and atop box it would be the most versatile for my needs.
-
I had a Norge and a Stelvio around '14-'18. After a BMW GS came the Stelvio which was great on the road and was not a problem on gravel mountain roads - it was in the driveway I was terrified of dropping it while moving around or washing. The center of gravity was just way too high. It was the first to go although I loved it. The Norge came after a BMW K-bike and ST1300 and was much lighter. I took several trips cross country with it but preferred a lighter bike for general purpose. I finally saw the V85 at EICMA and put money down before they were even having people order. I road a lot of Colorado mountain passes with it and then also across Canada. Thinking I would not be doing any more cross country trips ( since I have done three), I decided I didn't have the use for the Norge, taking up space, so I passed it along to Luis in Kentucky. He has been enjoying it ever since. When the Centenario was coming out I got one for myself (#10) and one for my younger son (#11). My original, went to my older son in Columbus. All of us have been very happy with the bike.
Last year I saw the EICMA promo for the upcoming Stelvio and put an order in over a month ago. The dealer contacted me today, with the VIN and said that it would be in in a couple weeks here in PA. The V85 is about perfect as it does everything about 90%. I will keep both bikes and switch off. I really don't know which one I will keep, (or maybe I'll keep both). I have a whole workbench full of parts I will be swapping/adding to the Stelvio. I think, in the end, the Stelvio will win out as we already have a history. The picture was taken Sept. 23 of this year when we were on the top of Passo dello Stelvio. What a tough choice !!!

Well, if it has to be a MG I suppose I'd choose a v85tt but it would be a tough decision between the Adventure and the Travel models. I still haven't figured out the difference between the two other than spam cans vs side open bags. Of course I'd need all the options like heated grips/seat, driving lights, etc. I don't need the top box option, prefer to strap a bag over the passenger pillion. Although I love my current inventory, realistically they've aged out on me and me on them. They've got tons of miles and slightly difficult to trust on a cross country 5k-6k round trip. As have I, I need comfort, realiability and sufficient capacity to bring all my comfort stuff (tent, chair, mattress, sleeping bag, pillow, plenty of clothes, snacks & probably a few other things). And, my hope would be that the v85 would float over the road as well as my wing does or wee strom did. No stiff suspension required here....comfort all the way with plenty of suspension travel, I'm 70, was never a speed racer and don't plan on becoming one now. Also, i think the v100 is too new for me, I'm more apt to choose a bike that has been out for a while that has developed a good track record in reliability & comfort.

Only one Guzzi?!?
Well, a pristine, sorted example of any of these would do me just fine... :thumb:
* V7 Sport
* 1000S
* 750S
* CX-100
* 850-T3
However, for the last 8 years, my trusty '98 Centauro GT, (aka "The Yellow Horse"), has been great... :thumb:

I love my V11 Sport. I wouldn't replace it. So far as just owning one Guzzi and nothing else, I suppose I'd hold my breath that nothing would break and bank on the V100. It's a competent motorcycle and rips. Since I have a Ducati 939 Supersport, I'd rather have that one and the Sport.
I think I'll take the Sport out today, it's going to be 60 out.
-
Trades are tough. If they loaded up the 100S with all the available awesome options, I'd be very tempted.
They have a 100S on the floor. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I did that back in 2018 when I thought my riding days would forever be limited by nerve pain. Did trade two for one for my 2018 Road Glide Special and had so much equity in the bikes I traded that I got about $7000 in upgrades to make the Special into a Road Glide Limited for touring.
-
Faced that choice three years ago when at 72 years old I decided that it was time to let the Stelvio NTX go and replace it with my last Guzzi for the duration of my riding years. Now pushing 75 I know I made the right choice with my 2017 V9 Bobber. Added a wind shield, custom exhaust, solo seat and replacement rear suspension. Runs, sounds and rides just the way I like it. Covers my riding needs along with being within my ability to work on, move around and handle.

Basically the same bike as mine - you have great taste
-
V100 Mandello without question, the standard model in red. It would be such a huge leap in performance from the 04 Breva I'm sure I will be entertained. Need hard luggage, and that's about it. And I just about fit on it. Just.
-
My Stelvio. Easily the most competent bike I've ever ridden. Takes me anywhere I should go alone. Ridden an 800 mile, 17 hour day on it and was ready to go the next morning.
-
I’d like a Corsa with wire wheels. I don’t have many riding years left and I think that would suit me till the end.
-
If I could have a new one, regardless of the year, the one at the top of my list would probably be a LeMans III. For a new Guzzi, it would have to be a '24 Stone Corsa, which I should be taking delivery of hopefully in the next few weeks.

All sound reasons. Also valid for the 1000S and LM IV, for those seeking more performance. Although the III is arguably the best handling Lemon.

I am older now early 70s and I ride often but mostly on lovely county and rural rodes. My 71 Ambassador fits the bill very nicely.

This 2004 EVT gets the call more than any other motorcycle in the garage... To the point that I did not even register the 2013 HD FLHTC this past year.
The EV is a do it all ride for me and I dig it.

My V7-850 does not have the HP of my former 2002 Sportster 1200 Sport or 2014 Honda CB1100, but it has so many features:
5.5 gallon fuel capacity
air cooled (Triumph did a good job of making the radiator on my 2022 Bonneville Street Twin not to obvious, but it is more complex)
easy valve adjustment
shaft drive
great torque
top speed 114 MPH up slight grade with mild headwind
comfortable for 400 mile days
It has been the almost perfect bike to end my motorcycling "career"

They aren’t terribly rare or valuable in comparison to say a V7 Sport but the simplicity of the mechanical components, the near agricultural look if the frame and the elegant sheet metal, chrome and paint that joins it all together into an attractive design.
-
My choice would be the early 1000S with the 40mm dells. That or the 84 850LM - light weight, simple, powerful, better looking than the LM2 or 4, and gets 55-60mpg. What's not to like??

Ooh - love that fairing! What is it? I want!!
I believe that is a Sprint Fairing and from what I heard they are no longer making fairings for Guzzi’s which is too bad, as they make a great product.
