I’m June of 2024 I’m taking this sketchy ass 1972 Honda home built CB 750 chopper on a ride to Ferguson NC. 300 miles….then in September I’m riding it from Chattanooga Tn down to Clearwater Beach Florida….a 600 mile ride!
Why oh why! My wife says “it’s all about the adventure “. I think I’m crazy!

I have no reason to doubt the motor will make it.
Whether your butt will make it is the question.
-
Go for it—you can always stop at the dollar storeand pick up a pillow ..

The only crazy part is riding around FL. Those flatlanders drive funny. I know, I'm married to one.
-
Crazy, no! Sadistic, maybe! It's nothing more than being able to deal with the harsh ride.
-
Looks like it will be a bunch of fun in the rain on twisty roads. :thumb:

Any bike can be ridden anywhere. It is all about how you get there and how fast you get there where the differences come into play.
On my Concours 1400 I could cover 600 miles in a day. On the Van Van it would be 600 miles in a week.
-
Listen to your wife bro, life is an adventure.
Carry on!

Usually it’s the other way around. I decide on an adventure, and my wife is the one who says I’m crazy!

Last year I broke down on my chopper due to a broken/loose ignition wire causing bike to cut out. Fixed it with a new electrical terminal/connection and got it home. Old stuff breaks sometimes!

Enthusiast - you're an Enthusiast.

While in Clearwater, stop at Bert's Barracuda, local HD shop. Folks there will appreciate your chopper. You might run into a scruffy dude named Shadetree Surgeon, a Youtuber who builds choppers, and rebuilds donated bikes of every kind to raffle them off for charity. One of his choppers is a CB750.

Years ago a guy from if I remember correctly rode a partially restored Guzzi to the KS rally with a knee pad zip tied to the frame for a seat.

If you make it as far as NC and break down, get in touch with me and I’ll have your back👍
-
With all due respect to you having his back, a pre-plotted map of places one could get good massages along his route would REALLY support his back.
As a man who knows, take my counsel.

If you’re sane enough to understand that you are crazy then you’re not…

Yeah, I recall you posting about it here. While none of my junk has stranded me...yet, last year was the year of running out of fuel (3 times on 2 different bikes) and getting stranded...because of my own stupidity.
Anyway, I think it would be a hoot to ride your cb750 chopper cross country! I'm sure you'll get plenty of looks because people don't see that sort stuff these days. Also, I don't imagine the tank has the capacity for long range so stopping every hour or two so just about the time your bones can't take it anymore you'll be pulling in for fuel & a stretch. My
Lemanses have plenty of range but I'm only good for an hour and a half before I have to pull off, stretch and un-numb my groin by standing/walking it off. Good luck & enjoy your trip, I don't think you're crazy!

What you’re doing is going for a ride.

I rode my bike to a custom seat guy, talked about what he was going to build, took photos of me on the bike for leg position, etc. and then i rode home with a stadium cushion for a seat. repeat when he finished. talk about sitting down in the bike!

Excellent plan. If this were the mid 70’s there would be an a dude on an 8 valve chopper in every town. Now you are carrying the torch for all of us.
-
There is a group of 6 or 7 Sportster choppers that I think come through town every summer. I have seen them a couple of times and I assume it is an annual ride.

Guessing two bars on opposite ends of town?
-
No, actually passing through on a trip. They were not local.
