I've actually never seen this movie. Hope it is worth the time.
-
Hmm 🤔 seemed like it
But then again I was stoned to the bone.
Was a huge Who fan.
So I enjoyed it

Depends on your taste. I have always thought it was a good cult movie. If you have never seen Tommy, worth watching once at least if you like The Who. And the Bean thing is ...Ummm....Differen t.
Also check out Quadrophenia if you like The Who and Mods and Rockers and the weird British bike scene.
Might just check out The Magic Christian. Peter Sellers and Ringo Star, Raquel was naughty.

Thanks for the pointers to the other movies. If they show up somewhere for free I will check them out. I watched "Tommy" on one screen while plotting data in Excel on the other screen. There were moments that were strange and moments that were too repetitious, but Ann Margret made it worthwhile.

Tried it years ago... terrible. Couldn't stand The Who after trying to sit through it.
-
I watched it years ago. Ya, its a little out there, and at times pretty tough to get in the swing of things allowing you to follow it.. Lots of mood enhancing substances used in production I think. I REALY liked Quadrophenia and the record is AMAZING!! Sure not the "feel good movie of the season" though. Its pretty dark, but I think it was well filmed, and produced.

Forgot just how bad of an actress Ann Margaret could be. What might have been cool back in the '70s is so badly done and heavy handed by today's standards.
"Miss Meadows" is a 1,000% better use of the movie medium featuring Katie Holmes in a delightfully twisted tale. Available Free for Prime members.

I liked Miss Meadows.

It just reminded me of all the lame offerings that are now protected under the veil of “cult movies”.
We had some here in Oz..
Stone, Mad Max, Barry Mc Kenzie (to a lesser degree).
Then there’s that Divine classic…Lust in the Dust
Unadulterated garbage like “Easy Rider”
Here’s the thing..
If you’ve fond memories of such tripe because you took your first girlfriend to the movies to watch them, the saving grace is that under such circumstances, you probably only digested 10% of the show (the first 10%…)
After you’ve scoffed your first snow cone, you had your hands full…
If you come right out and say that it was meaningless one dimensional drivel, then you’ll likely as not be accused of failing to see the “hidden message….”
Like a lot of Dylan’s stuff, when asked what the song means, he just replies…
“You have to find out for yourself…”
Just a great big word salad that culminates in a disjointed mish mash of semi thought out concepts.
I’ve seen adult movies that made more sense…

Tell us what you really think Huzo.
I didn’t think deeply about it.
Not many movies hold my attention which is why I multitask while watching them.
-
I first saw it a couple of years ago, always liked the music. The pinball duel between Tommy and the giant pinball wizard was great.I liked the sleazy parents, real slime balls.
-
Mad Max is one of the few movies with sequels that were better than the original.
-
The Pinball Wizard was Elton John.
Mad Max... I thought the original was decent, but some of the squeals, not so much.

There is nothing quite like Tina Turner singing "acid queen".
Understand that this was rock opera....and the theatrical performances are just as iconic!
Let's all neal at the cult of marylin and.....you know where to put the cork!!
-
some of the squeals, not so much.
Yes I agree, the squeals were a bit overdone, but the sequels didn’t contain as many… :azn:

Try listening to the album first, with any of the mind bending drugs available in 1969…
Then apply the same drugs while watching Tiny Turner do her thing…that’s what that movie is for…it’s fairly eh, otherwise…not that I would know…or so I’ve been told…I don’t know I forget……
I think the album did break rock roll history by connecting all the songs as a ‘rock opera’ story, vs a collection of individual songs on an album
I actually did miss the heaviest drug fashions of the day…thank heavens
But I’m pretty sure you and your friends would put a pile of whatever you got in the middle of the room, downed it, and ran the album …trippy man…
Now remember, Tina had to quit all that, so her pulling out the stops is amazing to watch
