If you haven't experienced issues with the faulty ignition switch on the 1400 (mine is a 2017), I commend you. This will be my second replacement. The first time, the dealer replaced only the bottom portion so I could retain my original key set. My question is this: Is it preferable to replace the entire unit, or does it make a difference? If I only replace the bottom portion, will it increase the likelihood of future failures? And if I opt for a complete replacement, what steps do I need to take to synchronize the new key with the ECU?

When only the antenna(bottom) part is broken, there nothing to gain with replacing the rest. Question is, why did it brake second time? Cable damaged? The top and bottom part don't know each other.
