A Fireball 50 was my first bike (that I didn't have to share with my brother). Given to me by the lady that drove the school bus. "Sport" makes me chuckle - mine barely had the power to ascend a small hill. Not something I would spend $2750 on for sure.

When I was a kid I really wanted one of these Benellis but they were too expensive. Ended up with a Rupp Roadster which now sell for more than my Norge.

Back in the 70s when I was riding a Honda Trail 70, my riding buddy's parents bought him a Benelli Volcano. I think it was about 175 cc,and quite the wheelie beast! He would always leave me in a cloud of smoke!

At ages 12-13, I wanted a mini-bike very badly...but at age 14, my Dad bought me a used 1965 Yamaha YG1-K (80cc), just like this one...and this was my very FIRST motorcycle... :thumb: :boozing:

His rationale was that if I was going to learn to ride a full size motorcycle someday...I needed to learn how to operate a clutch and gearbox, along with a proper front and rear brake... :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:... and the rest, as they say...is history! :boozing:

Is your father German? Mind used the exact same logic when he bought me a Kawasaki KE175 as my first bike at age 13. You forgot the part about 'you need full size wheels, those small ones on mini-bikes will make you crash'.

No...100% Italian... However, never got the..."You need full size wheels speech..."
At age 14-15, we were only riding around in the corn fields and back dirt roads of our neighborhood in upstate New York.. :thumb:  :boozing:.

Since we are on the Bennelli topic, this one was at Mecum (Vegas) last month. And so was I.
So how small are the pistons on a 25Occ- Four Cylinder?
Looks better in person.

Does anyone know the stroke on this?

44 bore, 38 stroke

I'm betting that would be a little screamer!

This was also my first bike. I think mine would do 55 stock. After some tweaking I saw 60 on the speedo. No idea how close to accurate that was. I know it was quicker than the Honda 90s.

That’s a cute little Benelli.
On the left hand control are two additional cables and the numbers 2 and 1? Is that a two speed transmission hand shift, similar to the three speed Vespa hand shift? Or is that a hi - lo selector and does the motorcycle have a conventional foot gear change?

Jim, it looks like the same or similar transmission twist shifter as found on the air and fan cooled small displacement Ducati two stroke bikes like Cadet, Mountaineer and Falcon. They usually say Domino or Allshaker (I think) and have 1 on bottom, 0 in middle (neutral) and 2 & 3 beyond the 0.

Different than my Fireball 50 then. Mine had a foot shift - the same engine as the minibike in Blackcat's photo. What mine looked like:
