Title: Motor Mount Bolts from Givi Crash Bar broke 21 V85TT
Post by: aviseqdas on March 07, 2024, 11:19:31 PM
So one of the bolts for my Givi crash bar on by 2021 V85TT fell off, so I removed the bolt from the otherside to try and find the same size at the hardware store. What I have is M10x70mm bolt but the end of which looked uneven. So I purchased a M10x70 bolt and it wont screw into the mount.

So, I reached out to Givi and asked for a copy of the installlation instruction book and found those bolts are actually M10x90mm. Well seems like 20mm of that bolt is stuck inside the mount.

Now I went and bought couple of M10x90mm 1.24 pitch bolts but I am not able to screw them back on.

Did this happen to any one else, bike has not been dropped recently and wondering how could the Grade 8.8 bolt just break like that.

That's some tough luck.  It's going to be a chore to extract the broken part of the bolt from that blind hole.

It can be done, though.

You might want to make a sleeve as a guide for a left handed drill bit. Have good bourbon nearby.

Funny. True.  Ah, the voice of experience.
