Some people might still be experiencing "Database Error". There is nothing I can do for you from my end. All errors are corrected, all upgrades are done. If you still see that message, it is because your Internet Provider hasn't flushed their DNS servers cache yet and what you are seeing is cached information. The only real thing that can be done is wait it out for the propagation to take place.
However, there are a few things you can try on your end.
- Try installing new browser that has never accessed this site before
- Try logging in on a different network, (mcdonalds, library, etc
- Clear your cache, cookies, temporary internet files
- Reset your browser to factory settings
- If you're running a microsoft computer, try the following things
Run the CMD command as an adminstrator and type: ipconfig /release (hit enter), then run ipconfig /renew (hit enter), then run ipconfig /flushdns (hit enter)
- Unplug your router and modem for 15 minutes
- Reboot your computer
- Plug router and modem in and wait 10 minutes to try and do anyting
If none of this works, try contacting your ISP and see if they can flush your DNS.
If all above don't work, you'll just have to wait it out. There is absolutely nothing I can do. I have test probably 20 different accounts on my end and all worked flawlessly. That means it is not a problem with the board, but a problem with the internet provider and propagation. If I logged in to your account on my end and seen Database errors as you have, it would be on my end. But since I log in to your account on my computer and am able to do everything, it is not a board problem. Hope that makes sense.
Propagation explanation:
Internet propagation, also known as DNS propagation, is the process of updating Domain Name System (DNS) records across the internet. DNS records are essential for connecting domain names to their corresponding IP addresses. When changes are made to DNS records, name servers around the world need to be updated, which can take anywhere from 48 hours to 10 days or more, depending on ISP's. During this time, a domain and its emails may not work consistently, and a website may not be accessible from all devices or may appear insecure.

I have been away from home since March, on my laptop. No faults with this site.
I flew home, without the laptop; using my desktop which hasn't been lit since March, maybe hasn't been here for a couple months before that. No problems with either; When was the database issue first seen?
Academic really, just throwing out a point of data.

FWIW, I tried to send a PM to "midnite" a new member in response to his6/11 post on v85 parts. I get the data base note and it won't let me send it and I couldn't respond to his post either.

I took my laptop out to Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina, and using whatever Wi-Fi that was available. I could only half the time post a very short test message. Never a photo or anything more than half a sentence. Same with my cell phone.
I'm home now, and both work perfectly.

yep. Some DNS servers are not updated as frequently as the rest. Wish I was in control of that. If I was in charge, I'd update daily or something. The internet can be a strange thing.

For two days I've tried a single post on a single thread. returned the error. Tried it from home, tried it from work. Error. Thing is I was making posts on other threads, including photos. No trouble at all.
Read this thread and saw the qualifier "when using special characters". I tried that same post again, omitting the accent over an e on the word cafe, and viola. It works fine.
So it's an issue regarding the software processing characters. alt+133 in my case. Somebody else otherwise not having problems, give that a try and see if you get the same results.

We can use a screen shot or write our thoughts on paper and take a photo of it. Send the photo if it wont go through if blocked by the ERROR message.
At this point we have no other options.

Just did. Are you using cellular network? There seems to be problems with those networks DNS.

I wasnt able to comment, post, or message at all for the past few days, possibly due to the punctuation. Oh hey again! The : ; ? ! , and period work!
Seems to be those rascally ellipses, hyphens, apostrophes, and quotation marks that kept me out.

I am using old machines with older browsers, I think these problems are caused by a lack of backwards compatibility since the upgrade.

The mark Luap used is a "Coma" not an l' accent aigu used primarily in french.

To avoid this problem, the page should be changed so that the form is submitted in the UTF-8 encoding either by changing the encoding of the page itself to UTF-8 or by specifying accept-charset=utf-8 on the form element."

Interesting. Not even sure where to begin with that one and the last time I had issues out of my control I had to hire someone to fix it and as of now, the funds for 3rd party are empty. But, I'll try and see what can be done. I don't even know how to type that on my keyboard haha.

If you are using a modern version of Windows you can launch the "Character Map" application which is included. Another approach, without knowing the keyboard shortcuts for unicode modifiers, is to search the web for the word "cafe" and then copy and paste the word with the accent over the e from a result.

the way I've used for years, as I'm also a huge Larivee guitar fan and the first of those two e's should carry the accent, is to hold the ALT key while entering 133, an accented e immediately presents.

The database was converted to UTF-8 so special characters should work.
I suggest totally testing different angles, signatures, editing, including looking over messages and posts and let me know if all is well.

Yesterday I was able to get an extended multi paragraph PM to go through. This was the first one since the update work was completed.
Today I got two multi word post to go through.
Hopefully this one will also. 🤞

Working now. I use a virtual keyboard that suggests proper spelling of words like café.

Strange. the updates from yesterday would have no bearing on the issue you were having. It was simply a character and search index update. But, I'll take it. :thumb:
