Title: V85TT gas smell

Hey All  I've got a 2020 V85TT that is stinking up the garage. Three other bikes but the gas smell is from the newest one.There is some residue under the flap covering the keyhole in the gas cap.Doesn't seem to matter tank full or empty. Any one else with this problem? Robin

Did you buy it used?
 In 2020 many people were removing the diaphragm in the presser relief valve. That lets the fumes go right out instead of through the charcoal canister.
If that wasn't done then it might need to be done now.

Thanks for the reply Vagrant .. Bought the bike new and have read a little about the relief valve but not dived in. Is it possible the valve is in backwards?Or just  not a good setup.Thanks - Robin

And assuming you kept the evap canister installed?

Have you lifted the tank to make sure the fuel lines are properly connected?

In the past, the crappy valves they used needed to be either horizontal or vertical (I don't remember which) to work. If yours isn't working, the pressure will release somewhere, and it might be through the gas cap.

I had been smelling gas fumes on my Giallo Mojave and was wondering "thats not right". So inspecting the motor closely I saw evidence of a possible fluid leak on the starter/left lower engine, I removed the plastic cover off the (excuse me if I get the nomenclature wrong) intake manifold shown in the picture below. Underneath the cover are the parts that conduit the gas from the tank to the engine held on by one small screw and friction fitted with O rings. Somehow, the friction fit had loosened to where gas would squirt out/escape. After removing the cover I removed the screw and pulled the connection apart and cotton swabbed both sides and pressed it back together and reinstalled the retaining screw and viola! No more leakage and smell. Fixed. Pic is from internet, not my bike.
