Tomorrow, I will launch from Fort Knox and ride the 1200 Sport to its 'forever' home in Rockbridge Baths Virginia.
Plan to swing by Willett and Buffalo Trace as well as Gateway Cycles. I hate having to super slab some of it, but if I don't want a 12-13 hour day and arrive at night, it can't be helped. Will spend the day Saturday doing some work on the retirement home, then up to the lovely Mrs Bulldog in Alexandra on Sunday, and fly to France/Italy.
I am out of a job at this point, took my replacement on an orientation tour for our area of responsibility (Iraq/Jordan/Israel/Egypt etc) landed Sunday night, gave him the work phone Monday Morning and turned on my 'out of office' message........... It is surreal and exciting, and I am LOVING it...... I still care about our Service members in harms way in the Middle East, but have passed the baton for the day to day. It is SO NICE to not have the view behind the curtain for what is happening there. My wife asked why I am at such peace after being so engaged 24/7 the last 3 years, and with all that is happening, but I did my part and I take much solace from knowing my replacement will do a better job than I did. Nothing better than knowing your hard work and people are in good hands........ A true blessing.
Looking forward to linking back up with all my East Coast Riding Buddies.....

I'll show big love to Willett if I was to visit them. Their bourbons are fantastic. Some, like the BiB Old Bardstown, are, I believe, om;y available at the distillery.

Took a ride with retired Colonel Mike Hanson at the John Day Rally.We took the long way back from the lunch ride thru the Fossil area.When I asked him what he did in the army he said he was a vet.I said I understood he was a vet but what was his job?He is a veterinarian and took care of army dogs and horses,including riding in presidential inaugurals.Mike has an old Breva and kindly rode at a sedate pace so I could keep up thru the bad road conditions on my Stelvio.If I get it fixed it would be perfect for the strong tall guy he is.

I'm a big fan of Willett. Johnny Drum and Noah's Mills are my favorites, but the Old Bardstown BIB is great for the $$ too. I've been stocking up on those.
