Hello, I left my house July 7 in Winnipeg and biked east 4000kms to North Sydney, Nova Scotia in 8 days. I caught the ferry from there to Port aux Basques, Newfoundland and today July 18 I'm in Hawke's Bay, Newfoundland.

Tomorrow I head north to L'anse aux Meadows, where Leif Erikson had a Viking settlement 500 years before Columbus. I'll then head south to territorial France in North America, Sainte Pierre and Miquelon. That's on my 2022 v7 stone.

July 24 back in Fortune after taking the ferry to Sainte Pierre. I stayed the night at a rented house apartment. Hotels extremely booked. See pics.

Quite jealous. I attempted a Newfoundland and Labrador trip a couple years ago with the sidecar on my V7 II; unfortunately the charging system decided to go out on day two, just as we hit the border between Maine and New Brunswick. Ended up sticking around Nova Scotia for a few days before ferrying back from Yarmouth. My friend and I are planning to tackle it again next year, now that he’ll have the extra vacation time saved up once more. Once again, I plan to hop over to Labrador after we visit the Viking settlement, and do the (now tamed) Trans Lab over and down through Quebec.

Enjoy the ride!

Its a big country, many days of enjoyment if you drove from coast to coast.  DonG

We just got back on July 4th from a 12 day trip to NL. 9 days of rain with highs most days in the 50's. I had not worn my electric all winter but used the hell out of it in June/July NL. Still had a great time and I like Newfoundland more and more each time I go there. Friendlies folks I ever met, eve if they do talk a bit funny.

Farthest east we went was Dildo and then ferried over to Labrador for the evening where we drank copious amounts of Black Horse and a few mixed drinks then washed them down with a good good steak dinner. Ferry ride the next morning was not that great. Hungover and got screwed up with the NL/QC time change and ended up standing in the 45 degree rain for 4 hours only to enjoy the high seas back to Newfoundland.

I will say there was a print in the Labrador welcome center that no truer words have ever been printed.

First Relation of Jacques Cartier of S. Malo 1534

"...it is called the new Land, but rather stone and wilde cragges, and a place fit for wide beasts....I did not see a Cart-load of good earth: yet I went ashore in many places.... There is nothing else but mosse and small thornes scattered here and there, withered and dry. To be short, I believe this was the land God allotted to Caine."

Cannot wait to go back.

How is the traffic in the Maritimes?

I found it to be sparse in comparison to around where I live.

St John is a beautiful city, lots of history in the Rooms museum, live music in the harbor on sunny days and the Maine lobsters are migrating up there for colder waters.Dick the potter and his wife rode there from MN,he on a Norton, she on an old Breva. The weather wasn’t great, they spent a couple days in their tent by the side of the road in Labrador but the enjoyed the trip.
