Title: V85tt airbox questions.
Post by: yrunvs on July 28, 2024, 08:06:54 AM
ref:   2022 V85tt airbox

What do the highlighted parts do? Could it introduce unwanted contaminents into the airbox and thusly into the throttle body or is it harmless? What would happen if unplugged from the airbox? or is its function critical?

Fellow ('21) V85 TT owner here.  :thumb:  I just got mine in May.

I'm no guzzi expert, but I know my way around an engine.  Of course I could always be wrong.  Here's what I think.

The top one marked #2 "Blow-by pipe" routes any gasses that blow by the piston rings into the intake.  It also includes any gasses from the hot oil inside the crankcase  Those gasses are no worry at all in the combustion chamber, and may actually be flammable and therefore "good" in the intake.  In cars that's equivalent to the "CVS" or Crankcase Ventilation System.  It prevents the crankcase from getting pressurized, and gets rid of those gasses in a sensible way.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crankcase_ventilation_system (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crankcase_ventilation_system)

I think the others are also part of that system, but we can't see the legend for #7 and #10.
EDIT:  Yes, #7, #8, and #10 are also part of the blow-by pipe.
Are you able to post the document that you got the screenshot from?  I'd love to have a copy of it for myself as well as to better address your question.

EDIT:  Don't unplug them.  They're important!

By the way, can we see a pic of your bike?  The V85 is so pretty.  :gotpics:
EDIT:  Here's mine:

I think I found the Parts List, but I'm not sure if it's the most correct one.  Page 198 has the relevant figure.

Thanks Xander,

Here is the parts list I use. I guess you will have to copy and paste to get it then scroll down for schematics.

file:///C:/Users/conwa/OneDrive/Desktop/V85tt%20Parts%20List.pdf

And here is a vendor that carries just about all those parts just enter the part #.

I'm happy to help.

That's a link to a file on your own OneDrive account.  Nobody else can see the file.
But, I think I found that file and linked it above.

Thanks!  A good source of parts is always welcome.  I don't see V85 on the Moto Guzzi motorcycle parts page, but I'll keep browsing.

I just entered a bunch of part numbers I needed for my v85 and they all popped up on hand ready to ship.

Yep!  My shift lever just came loose (nut came off).  They have every part for that assembly, and at a much lower price than I expected, same for shipping.
