I just spent 3 days tent camping and riding around the Arkansas grand canyon.
my 7 special, brothers Ducati Scrambler, and a friends V85.
I found a bike with a less comfortable seat than my 7...the scrambler is a fun bike for sure, but that seat is the least comfortable seat i have been on in a long time... 20 minutes and me arse is DONE...

I can relate.
We've had the Monster 696 for 13 years now. I have never been comfortable on it for more than 50 miles (at the most).
I don't know how Jenn tours on it - 300 miles a day. I just don't.
I convinced her to try a Sargent seat a couple years ago hoping it would be even more comfortable for her and maybe start to make it tolerable for me. But after trying it for a year or two we sold it because it was no better for me and worse for her.
Granted I'm no fan of the stock seats on either of our V7s, but I've found much more comfortable seats for them.
Oh well.

I remember testing the 796 version while the 696 was out too. The 696 saddle wasn't great, but man that 796 was wayyy worse.

I can tell you've never rode a 1996+ DR650 with a stock seat. It is genrally believed that Suzuki hired a sadist to design the DR seat for them.

I can't say personally as I've never ridden the 796, though my little brother Jay seems to like his well enough.
I think my WORST bike got comfort was my Honda Ascot 500VT! That bike was a mechanical wedgie.

The worst seat that I've had the displeasure of sitting on for any extended periods was the one on my 2018 Aprilia Dorsoduro 900. The seat wasn't wide enough to give proper support to your backside, so your lower back paid the price.

I had a 1984 Ascot VT500, don't remember the seat being all that bad. 'Course the more upright riding position made it intrinsically more comfortable that a sportbike.

Best OEM seat, hands down, was the one on my 2007 BMW K1200S. Most comfortable OEM seat I've ever sat on.

Different butts I guess. My buddy was the original owner of the one I had and he seemed fine with it. But man I struggled with anything longer then my commute.
