My second love after my Guzzi's! I bought this from Cadre for the utility of being able to ride and not have to shift while in a boot or a cast, since I have been fighting the left ankle for almost two years. Since then I am completly enamored with it, I love this thing.

Damn that is nice. :thumb: I would like a Vespa, just not in the cards to spend that kind of money, YET, but down the road someday. When I can no longer wrestle the Mandello around I will use the cash to upgrade the suspension and whatever else and spend the rest on a Vespa. That is one great looking machine. What size motor?

Back in January of this year I bought my girlfriend a 2022 Vespa 300 GTS that I found on Craigslist, located just a few miles from me, for $4,900. Bike was owned by an old man who put just 780 miles on it, in the 10 months he owned from new. The 300 GTS is a peppy little scoot that can do highway speeds. But I wouldn't have too much faith in the drive belt lasting all that long if it was constantly driven at highway speeds. It's the perfect around the town kind of transportation.

I have a 2023 Vespa GTS. Rode scooter from Austin Tx to Vintage Motocycle Festival at Barber Motorsports Museum in Birmingham AL. This is the largest motorcycle museum in the world, and it has a track. There were multiple motorcycle races including side cars. Multiple motorcycle manufacturers were there offering free test rides including Moto Guzzi. It was similar to a MotoGP at COTA but much smaller event.
Rode Vespa over 2,000 miles averaging 65-70 mph. Took back roads on way to Alabama and interstates on way back. Vespa rode great and had no issues. I had an extra emergency 1 liter camping gas can just in case I ran out of gas. Vespa only gets about 60 mpg when running near full throttle. I had to fill up gas tank every 100 miles.

I signed up for the 2025 Scooter Cannonball ride next year. This was my test run. I get more inquiries and interest on my Vespa than any other motorcycle or car I have owned. Someone would come up and talk on just about every gas fill up. I get many compliments.
The Vespa is the most practical motorcyle I own. I commute to work, store items under seat, in top case, and also front rack.

It’s 110 cc, 15 Hp and USD 4,000.
Much harder than what I did I expect with documentation and such on his journey, the riding is the easy part.
But really guys, the hardest part is saying…”I’ll just do it…”
Some of you guys there should get together on tiddlers and just blast off, admiring his effort is totally understandable.
But…
Imitation as they say, is the sincerest form of flattery.

Honda CT110s claimed around 7.5 hp which makes long distance travel on them all the more impressive. Even the "modern" fuel injected CT125 is shy of 15 hp and 11 hp, it comes in at 9 hp with a version of the twin-clutch engine that is tuned to lose some max hp in favor of mid range torque.
I'm impressed by the Vespa around the world in 80 days in the same way I'm impressed by the folks who set fastest-known-time records on long distance hiking trails such as hiking the ~2,200 mile Appalachian Trail in ~40 days. It's some of the most extreme Type 2 fun. They embrace the suck and as Huzo mentions put in a lot of effort on documenting, and certainly on planning. I enjoy doing that in much smaller quantities, like an Iron Butt Saddle Sore 1,000 on a highway capable motorcycle. To spend 80 days on the road touring areas you may never return to and not having time to stop or being too exhausted to appreciate it in the moment, not something I would sign up for personally, but I am in awe of the dedication! I've done slow bike touring as well, on 125cc bikes, and usually set my limit at 400 miles a day, 250-300 preferred, so I can avoid night riding and have time to stop and see things and talk with people along the way.
