the new to me Lemans IV has a charging light that doesn't come on with key on. Bulb is good. Test light when grounded and touching alternator blue wire bulb will light up bulb with key on and bike not running. Bulb does not go out with bike running. Voltmeter test at battery shows bike is charging when running.
I miss having a flickering charge light that guzzi's are supposed to have. :thumb: is there a fix ........

has to be in the wiring or bulb holder then...

Could be how wires are routed in the dash line up, most likely touching the socket. I'd try another bulb too, never know. Bad spade connector possible too.

As the 2 above solutions or possibly brushes/slip ring dirty or hung up on the ALternator

Brushes worn down?

Properly odd, classic rotor gone open circuit symptoms, but then it wouldn’t charge
Multimeter will tell all, perhaps a wiring thing ? What max volts does it give?

My R75/5 did this. Exact same symptoms, not necessarily your problem but easy to check. Same alternator I believe.

new bulb tried with no change. Bulb & socket tested good all by it's self not connected to the wiring harness on the bike. Looked at the brushes and they seem fine with good tension from the springs. Bike started fine the day before.
Checked battery voltage next with voltmeter had 12.8v, next test was to start bike and read voltage at battery again for output. Bike won't start just kept cranking but no pop, fart or bang...no power to the coils. I thought maybe I hit the kill switch by mistake so I flipped the switch and a BIG BANG happened ! Could that bang damage the dyna black box?
Still No power to the coils now so no sparky. All this just because I wanted to figure out why the battery charge light didn't work.... :thewife:
No smoke was released during this whole sequence of events

power back on , seems eye have a fiddley kill switch , but still no charge lite... Oh well, bike is charging up to 13.8 volts at the battery while running.
Carry on ...... :boozing:

Great!
Yeah, years ago I took both hbar switches apart, cleaned the contacts, etc. I seem to recall something up there using the hbar as a return ground path so that business has to be clean too. I also put the kill sw circuit on a relay to keep that current out of the switch. fwiw.
