Title: Help! Trying to find Semi-Chrome or Fritz at a retail store
Post by: Gliderjohn on November 20, 2024, 06:20:27 PM
Finding out that either is hard to find at the retail level. Use to not be a problem. Can get it on line but shipping about doubles the cost. Anyone know of retailers that may be stocking it? Have looked at Wal-Mart, Ace, O'Rileys and Auto Zone with no luck so far.

My search shows the usual suspects (Walmart, Amazon, Ebay, etc.),but include all the truck stops around here.

I bought my tube of Semi from a music store that sells musical instruments, polish your trumpet.

Do you mean "Flitz", not "Fritz"?

That is the problem. No wonder you couldn’t find it

I echo the truck stop idea. Probably the best place to look.

I would think that any auto parts store could order it for you.

What is the cost of driving all over town looking for a tube of Simichrome?  Just pay the shipping.

My local drugstore used to stock it with other metal polish like Nevr-Dull.  I also used to buy it at the local hardware store.  Sadly those locally owned places are going the way of the DoDo.

So, I order online and pay for shipping rather than gasoline and time.

You might try Mother's Alum/Metal polish.  I've switched from the other two mentioned

Found some today in ABQ. There was a big music store on the way to my Mom's place so checked there with no luck. Heading further down the street was an an independent shop that sells used European bikes and services. They had Semi Chrome, so back in business without going out of my way.

FWIW, you can obtain Flitz (aka Fritz by some) at the Ohio Buckeye Rally, it's always on the freebie table.  Their support of the Rally is greatly appreciated.
