Talking with the owner of my yard service. He had a click-click-click no start problem with a commercial Ferris mower. Dealer just kept replacing starters, solenoids, etc, which was a waste of money. Yard guy finally found a Ferris dealer in the mid-west (we are in Massachusetts) who had a solution; add a John Deere relay to the starting circuit, to feed the starter directly from the battery. Problem solved.
I told the yard guy about the same problem/same solution Guzzi bikes have. Manufacturers save a little money, but in the end make the machine unreliable when they start to age, and the system is no longer working 100%.
