It looks as though MG has put my beloved v9 out to pasture. This bike never got the respect it deserved, especially the Roamer: I'm not surprised, I have been expecting it for years.
The best Guzzi never get a fair shake the first time around.
And all of you who are about to say, "yeah, but that tank...blah blah blah, can go... yourself, because you really have no idea what you missed.

J/K. The tank DID grow on me. I wish they would’ve offered different wheel types. I would’ve loved to have bought a 19” spoked wheel to throw onto my V7.
Those balloon tires on the Bobber were ridiculous looking.

I dug the tank, would own that bike over a v7 any day.

A couple of folks have in the past (with a minor amount of of welding if I recall)—but since they began sharing the same 850cc power plant, what would be the point?

I don't recall any welding. Sarah Greer and her husband were the first I remember.
I'd do that to a 1st Gen V9 in a heartbeat because I still prefer that motor over the EUIV 850, but the jury is out on the newest motor so maybe I'll stop pining for that gen V9.

My bad. I just checked—Sarah and Crashcraddock screwed the lock plate onto the fender. I thought there was a minor amount of fabrication done.

I love the engine in the first gen V9 found in my 2017 Roamer. I have come to accept the peculiar look of the tank, and I have never had a bike that drew so many compliments from "ordinary" people. But the bike would have been better with a larger capacity fuel tank, a proper seat/saddle, a more standard riding position and an 18in rear wheel. Never been a fan of big differences in wheel sizes front and rear, also never a fan of balloon tires like those on the Bobber.
However, if Guzzi now dump the V9, it is because people do not buy enough of them to make it worthwhile to keep it in the lineup.

No, because I found the suggestion—even as a joke—pretty darn tasteless (I think we’re better than that), and the ONLY reason I responded in the first place was because I found it hilariously obscene.
I might not be a condescending grammar nazi, but I’d like to think on this forum we don’t say that stuff.

Damned if you do damned if you don't. When I had my Audace I was looking for a bike that would be easier to handle around town etc. I really thought a Roamer would fit the bill. The nearest one I could find at the opposite end of the state and California is a looong state. Like the owner of a hardware store I once worked for had an axiom that was "if I don't have it I can't sell it." I have only seen one in person and I liked it. I settled for a V7 Special. Of course about a month later a low mileage used one showed up about a 100 miles away, naturally.

I have a V9 and also find that non-Guzzi people love it. I have no issue with the tank size as it allows me to keep it full to reduce interior condensation while carrying less overall weight. I just ride the back roads by my house so the lower capacity is not an issue. Also, the tank is surprisingly close to the shape and size of a California 1100 tank - slightly less than an inch shorter in height and length - and is a nice substitute to reduce the bulbous look of the California that some dislike. Regarding the 'can't grip the tank with my knees issue', there are other obstacles to that anyway on both my V9 and my V7. I love both bikes!
